  • Jena Rinaldi

My name is Jena Rinaldi and I chose a video about self-value. There are many things I liked about this video, but the main thing that I loved was how he made you realize your value without having to say it. Valuing yourself is so important, but sometimes when life gets rough it is easy to not value or believe in yourself. This video did a good job of explaining that no matter what you go through your value never changes. How this is motivational to me is it reminds me that even when I have a lot going and I feel like the world is against me I am still me and the person I Have become has not changed. It is important to know that you are valuable and that no matter what, loving yourself is important and this video is a good reminder of that. https://youtu.be/yBrRpb8aLwk

  • Adriana Sarabia Savala

Hi my name is Adriana Savala. I chose a video called GET UP AND MAKE IT HAPPEN – Motivational Video. I liked this video because it related to me. I sometimes feel like I do not want to do anything. On those days, it is really hard to get anything done, but I must remember that everyday counts and everyday something can be done. The video talked about not saving things to do for tommorrow. I think it is important to not save things for the next day because it sometimes is used as making an excuse and work begins piling up. This video made me feel motivated to get things done! I hope it helps motivate you too.

  • Daisy Avila

Hi! My name is Daisy Avila Elizalde. I chose this video called, Take Care of Yourself. I knew about this video for a while now and it has been one that has actually motivated me a lot. I think that it is motivational because it is about working and taking care of ourselves, how we are choosing everything and that self-discipline is what leads success. I thought that it was also interesting how they use famous people and quotes that some may be similar to others. One thing that stood out to me was to keep faith, I think that was something that we may all need to hear at least once in our life. If we believe in ourselves then we are capable of doing anything. Another thing that stood out to me was, “you’ve got to believe in possibilities..the big one believe in yourself”, I think that as college students we may sometimes lose the motivation to keep on going and doing our best, in example, being tired of an assignment or scoring low on an exam, sometimes we may feel like a failure however, we have to keep pushing through. Like in the video it states, “You’ve got to believe that tomorrow can be better.”, I think that this is something that we can tell ourselves in order to keep on pushing forward and looking forward to each new day.

  • Valeria Rodriguez

My name is Valeria Rodriguez and a video that motivates me is called “What Skydiving Taught Me About Fear” by Will Smith. I chose this video because I tend to let fear control my life. With this video the message is to let go of fear and not let it control you. He explains it with his experience of skydiving. He says that he was sacred the time coming up to jumping out of the plane and felt nothing when he jumped. I like the quote he uses “God placed the best things in life on the other side of fear”. This quote is very true because we tend to live in fear and never really think about what we gain if we let go of that fear. Even though, the clip is very short I find that it gets its message across well.

  • Sarahi Sanchez

My name is Sarahi Sanchez and the video clip that I found motivational is called “PUSH YOURSELF – New Motivational Video for Success & Studying” by Motivation2Study. I picked this video because I have been struggling with being motivated in my school work. It has become hard to stay focused at home while trying to maintain the same grades I had before this global pandemic. This video opens my eyes to all the distractions I have being at home and how to overcome them by staying motivated and dedicated to my school work. I like the metaphorical phrases the narrator uses while showing how hard life is when you’re being put down. This short video encourages me to keep trying even when I feel stuck or feel that there is no hope in studying.

  • Ashely Xiong

My name is Ashely Xiong, and I find the video, “Get Things Done,” a motivational video. Throughout my life, I always procrastinate because I don’t have the motivation or determination to complete things until it is near the due date. While watching this video, I felt like something hit me and woke my brain up to think about my life. A very powerful line in this video that is true to me is, “You’re cheating yourself with the mediocre promise that ‘I’ll do it tomorrow!’” It is true because I am cheating myself by lying. I complete my work or chores a few days later. This video encourages me to think about how I shouldn’t only complete things when I feel determined because I will never feel determined to do things. Just like the video stated, “Determinations to get things done doesn’t come to you! You move towards it!”

  • Noemi Estrada

    https://youtu.be/9RT-_uYnVCA
Hi, my name is Noemi Estrada, and the motivational video I found was “Outwork Everyone” by Ben Lionel Scott on youtube. The premise of the video is to never give up, to keep pushing yourself even when you think you can’t go that extra inch. This applies to multiple areas of people’s lives. For me, this video is motivational in the sense of school and my health. I recently started working out daily, and since it’s still a new routine, it is easy to slip up and quit. So I have to remind myself that I am doing this for myself and not for anyone else. With school being transitioned online, it has been hard keeping a routine going like I did when I was living near campus. The video reminds you that you can’t control other people’s actions, the only thing I can control is my actions. I have to keep pushing to be the best version of myself and to not let motivation and that drive die.
Overall I enjoyed that the video would stress the fact that we can control outside factors like people’s actions, attitudes, etc. This is extremely true, and I tend to forget this from time to time.

  • Katherine Castro

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSceuiPBpxY

Hello, My name is Katherine. I found this interview with Kobe Bryant on YouTube. In this interview, Kobe Bryant talked about how he developed his craft and became successful in the NBA. I thought that his methods of becoming a “winner” could be implemented in any part of life. He discussed how becoming successful start with you. The only way one can become the best they can be starts within themselves. You need to be willing to sacrifice and work harder than others to be the best and to do that you need to do to reach the highest level. I tend to be just enough, or just do enough. However, this is not realistic if I want to be successful. Being a student, professional, sister, daughter or athlete, it is my responsibility to push myself to become great because no one is going to do it for me.

  • Mireya Gonzalez

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwqkmfFJ6LU

Hello, my name is Mireya Gonzalez and I picked the animated version of the Hamilton musical. I enjoy listening to the Hamilton soundtrack; the animations in this video bring the musical to life. When I watch and listen to this video, I feel inspired by the lives of many of the characters (who are based on real people). The musical is inspired by the life of Alexander Hamilton, a founding father of America. The main character, Alexander Hamilton, is an immigrant who faced many obstacles throughout his life. We see how he comes from nothing and fights his way up to the top. He makes mistakes that negatively impact his career, his family, and his marriage. We also see other characters like Aaron Burr, who is depicted as a man who is afraid of ruining his family’s legacy. Burr plays it safe throughout most of his life causing him to lose life-altering opportunities, which is something that can happen to anyone who is afraid of taking risks. Different characters experience love, loss, betrayal, frustration, and pride. It is easy for me to relate to some of these experiences and feelings. This musical taught me that every action has its equal opposite reaction and that I should pursue what I want, instead of waiting for it to magically happen to me.

  • Jamaica

Hello, my name is Jamaica Bonachita and I chose a video clip of Youtuber Michelle Khare attempting to become a runway model, despite being short. I always wanted to be tall but we cannot change genetics. I am 5’3″ and I always thought that height mattered in that it allowed one to do great things, such as play sports like basketball and volleyball. This video was motivating because Khare showed that nothing should stop me from doing what I want. The sky is the limit. There’s the saying that, “You can always do anything as long as you set your mind to it.” I hope I can live by these words.

  • Samara Noerr

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xp2qjshr-r4
My name is Samara Noerr and I chose this motivational video that inspires me to get after my goals in life right away. This video informs individuals on how our brains are made to protect us, so doing things outside of our comfort zone is hard. We however have about 5 seconds to go against what our brain would normally say and do the uncomfortable thing. We might have a split second thought to eat a salad versus a cookie before our brain says “no, just eat the cookie we’ll workout later or start that new diet on Monday”. We have 5 seconds to decide to eat healthier, go to the gym, attend college, start that business, etc. before our brain makes that decision for us. This video is just a reminder that if I want to achieve my goals and live a better life I picture for myself, I need to start making those decisions now and not wait later.

  • Allyssa Jabson

Hello! I hope you all are staying safe and healthy during these times. My name is Allyssa Jabson. This is a video clip from the movie The Pursuit of Happiness, that has resonated with me since the first time I ever saw this movie. It informs you to never let anyone tell you that you can’t do something and to always protect your dreams. It also is saying to go after those dreams. This part of the movie was very motivating to me. Ever since I saw this part, I always make sure I go after what I want, regards of what people think I can and cannot do. The doubts always feed to the fire.

  • Jacob deBos

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bg_Q7KYWG1g

Hi my name is Jacob deBos and picked a speech by Dr. Rick Rigsby given at a college graduation. In this speech he passes on some important life lessons to the graduation class about how to go through life. His first lesson that really resonated with me was “son you’d rather be a hour early than a minute late” the reason that this quote sticks out to me because it speaks to a high level of intergrade and value of ones words, I already placed a high value on my word but this line reinforced it for me. If I give someone my word that i will do something, i will make sure i do it and do it well because i place a high value on my word. Another quote that i really love out of this speech that ties into why i chose this video is “Make sure your servants towel is bigger than your ego. Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity”. This line really drives home the point that the wisest people are those who are not burdened by a large ego but instead they set their ego aside and help others. There are so many other amazing parts to his speech and i really don think i am doing it justice here, however the most amazing part is that all the lessons that he passes on come from his father who is the wisest man he has ever met who happens to be a third grade drop out.

  • Travis Jaynes

Hello, my name is Travis Jaynes and I chose this video that is meant to motivate us to make a difference in our enviroment and displays the damage that humanity has inflicted upon the planet. The video displays meaningful images of the earth and reminds us how much we affect it. The reason I find this to be so meaningful is because it shows us the affect we have on the world and delivers a strong message that we can do something about it. I personally have never been someone who worries about the environment until recently after seeing the damage we have caused. The video motivates me to help look after our world and is fragile and it does not only affect the environment, it affects us.

  • Nayeli Alonso

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgZUHw7kGX0

Hi my name is Nayeli Alonso. I chose this video because it talks about how students should not give up on their success. There may be times where they have to sacrifice themselves or things that they enjoy doing in order to be successful. For example, some days you will not be able to sleep or eat because you are working for what you want. A lot of students get tired of studying for an exam or homework and they easily give up. The moment you can give up is when you tell yourself you do not need that money. Most students say they want to be successful in life , but they do not mean because they are not putting the right amount of effort as they should. Something that stood out to me through this video was when they mentioned “To be able at any moment to sacrifice what you are for what you want”. After listening to this it made me realize that becoming successful is not going to be in your palm in your hand. We have to work as hard as we can in order to reach the success that we want

  • Apowell

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NalzB6ZdH4

I love this perspective, I found Rachel Hollis last year and have been motivated by the way she simply presents mindset changes. I chose this clip specifically because so often we look at failure as a bad thing when it can just be a stepping stone. I have found that often in my own life I am tempted to change a goal in order to make it easier rather than getting back up and fighting. About 10 years ago I chose to change that mindset and started powering though things, not always gracefully but there is always room for improvement. I think mindset is the key that can unlock a happy life, we just need to pursue our goals everyday and when its hard, get back up.

  • Abdelrahman Hamed

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YG7Bgxn2Ysw
Abdelrahman Hamed, I chose this video because at some point in life, we must ask ourselves who are we ?. It’s intriguing because since we are born, our whole life is shaped out for us starting with our parents. A lot of us just go through life without actually taking a moment and asking ourselves who we truly are. We just accept life the way it is until death comes knocking on the door. It’s important to look deep within ourselves and become who we want to truly be in life.

  • Marc

Hi my name is Marc Heredia, I chose this video because it motivates the person to go beyond doubt of one’s self. Limits are only set by us, and we should go after our dreams beyond that. Waiting for everything to happen will get you nowhere. If you feel you cannot do something, just do it do not think about it. Always put your best on everything you do, and be passionate on it.

  • Chloe Parker

    Hello,

My name is Chloe Parker. I chose this video because I find it very motivational in pushing limits to achieve fitness goals. I follow Beachbody, which is a fitness and nutrition company, and they constantly put out videos on their youtube channel. Recently, they posted this video of one of their managers who decides to wake up at 5am to accomplish her goals! I found it interesting that the video mentions those that get up with the sun or to watch it rise are more conscientious and pay more attention to details. I love that she found a boost in her energy level from waking up earlier, and this video motivates me to push myself beyond what I think I can do! If you set your mind to it, you can achieve it!

Hello my name is Jacqueline Zermeno. This video is by a YouTuber named Sarah. She is from Australia and she posts many different videos about her healthy life style and she also gives her viewers many ideas of what healthy meals to cook and how to find motivation. Her videos have really helped me to find what type of lifestyle I want to have and has motivated me to just be healthy. She also gives her viewers a lot of emotional support and also just stays real all the time and tells us about her problems she has in life like feeling unmotivated or feeling guilty about having a bad eating day.

  • Maricela Johnson

Hi! My name is Maricela Johnson.

I chose this video because I like how it felt relatable to be despite the speech being given by a Navy Admiral. I say this because I have no military experience so it could at first seem unrelatable. However, he talks about starting each day with one task, like making your bed, so that you feel more motivated to do another task and then another task, and so on. This was encouraging to me because he put into perspective how important it is so do your best in even the little things in life because it makes it more possible to do the harder things later in life. Even though it has been a long time since I first watched this video, I still try to start every day by making my bed and doing my best at all the little tasks before me.

  • Martha Aroche

Hello, my name is Martha Aroche and the reason I chose this video is because Admiral William McRaven tells a story of how starting off by doing the little things will lead you to do the bigger and greater things. I find this very motivational because we often try to achieve the bigger goals we are aiming for and we forget off all the little goals that came before it. We got through everything with hope and strength and by changing the world by that. Our dreams, goals, and achievements are meant to change the world even if its just our world but they start off by us making our bed in the morning. The physical strength that was talked about in the speech was only possible because of the willingness of a person not because of their appearance, personal background, or education it was all in their mental strength and that is inspiring.

  • Victoria Sandoval

Hello, my name is Victoria Sandoval. I chose this video because it emphasizes that success does not rely on the physical talents of an individual but rather the attitude and mindset. I think this is especially important to society today because of the competitive nature wee have. One specific quote that stood out to me was, ” The day all of your excuses stop is where your heart of champion starts.” I hope those who watch this video understand that we ourselves are our biggest competitors and the only ones who can stop us from achieving success. https://youtu.be/iA-8sxne0BY

  • Shan Chahal

    https://youtu.be/smleweIwseQ
Hello, my name is Gurshan Chahal. I chose this video just because of the person Coach K is. Every opportunity I get I try to pick apart his mind and how he thinks, he is always composed and is a true representation of how a leader should run a program. He truly believes in trusting others and his basketball program at Duke represents it. The motto of the program is “brotherhood” everyone in the program treats each other like family. I recently became a basketball coach and videos like this motivate me to improve everyday.

  • Vanessa Torres

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmWKXYP2tSI

Hi, my name is Vanessa Torres. For this assignment, I chose to share this motivational spoken word poem titled “Rise Above”. This video I feel can apply to a lot of different situations and stages in life since it discusses the idea of overcoming obstacles to come out stronger in the end. For me this video is particularly relevant since it talks about not quitting when you’ve already come so far and sacrificed so much. With my undergraduate career coming to a close this semester and all of the uncertainty in the world right now, it is tempting to want to give up at times or to not put forth all of my efforts but it’s important now more than ever to persevere. It also touches on not letting fear and sacrifice discourage you from reaching your full potential which I believe is a great mindset to have upon graduation as I make my way into my dream career field.

  • David J Arredondo

    https://youtu.be/4gi9y3sTrXE

Hello, my name is David Jose Arredondo. I picked this video of Kobe Bryant because he was overall one of the greatest athletes of all time. His desire to become better and be the best is what every person and athlete dreams to be. He would always put in the work to be the best he could possible be. He would tell others that you ned to put in the work, if you want to be the best you can be, both on the field and off it. It was amazing to see him be so motivated in both sports and the outside world to strive for greatness.

  • Christine Maritnez

Hello Everybody, my name is Christine Martinez. The reason I picked this video was because to me giving up is my number one weakness I’m dealing with right now. The video motivates me to not give up even though I can’t take it anymore. I been having a difficult time with my online classes; there are times where I want to give up. However, by watching this video, I won’t give up, I’m going to push through these hard barriers to succeed in my accomplishment. I just have to believe in myself, and I know I can do it.

  • Erika Garcia

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNYKDM4_ZC4&feature=youtu.be

Hello, my name is Erika Garcia. I chose the video, “Get up and make it happen”, because I feel like the message behind it is timeless. What I mean by that is at any point in my life whether I am a struggling college student, first time parent, on a fitness journey, trying to find myself, etc. this is a video to get my through those tough times when I want to give up. Nothing worth having in life comes easy, and this video emphasizes that. It emphasizes the importance of how on the toughest of days, you have to keep going because those are the days that count the most. Mentally and emotionally I think those are the days that make it or break it, because when you are feeling on cloud 9/on top of the world it is easy to continue, but those days where you are ready to give it up are the days you have to give it your all. The power to be the best and move yourself is within you. The only person that controls that inner motivation is you and that is why it is so important to move forward every single day, big or small. Some progress is better than no progress. I do feel like this video does give you some tough love, but I believe it is to fuel a drive within you.

  • Julieta Zavala

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCwKM6uB71I

Hello my name is Julieta Zavala Cortes. I chose this video, “Full power of women speech” because I find that it is very empowering for women all around the world. It is also motivating women and everyone in general to leave a dent in this world and strive to become someone unforgettable, despite their gender or societal standards. This video’s main focus is to remind women that they have the right to an equal opportunity of education just like men. We live in a world where, believe it or not, women are still struggling to obtain basic human rights that are constantly given solely to men. This video motivates many to keep fighting for change and to keep challenging these harmful ideologies that women are not privileged enough to have an education. As the video states, “An educated man can change the family but an educated woman can change the generation.”

  • Stephanie Ayala

    https://www.ted.com/talks/richard_st_john_8_secrets_of_success

I chose this video because its short, motivational but to the point and I feel that everyone should hear/watch this video about success. One of the things he talks about that leads to success is passion. I feel that having passion is very important when it comes to your job or career. If you pursue something that you don’t have a passion for or are not genuinely interested in, then theres very little likely of you succeeding in because everything is going to be done without passion or without dedication. The 8 keys to success according to this video are serve, passion, work, focus, persist, ideas, good, push.

Hello my name is Kyla Yang, the reason why I chose this video is because in life we go through many hardship and sometimes we lose a part of ourselves. We give up on ourselves believing that we are broken. This video proves that we still have value. It makes me fell to never forget that I still have value in me no matter what I go through. I hope that this video also encourages others to never forget their values.

  • Lynden Moitoso

    Lynden Moitoso

    https://www.ted.com/talks/rita_pierson_every_kid_needs_a_champion/up-next?language=en

I chose this TED talk by Rita Pierson because it is a clip that I was shown my first semester of college and has motivated me ever since. The underlying message of the video is that every kid needs a champion, which is reassured throughout her message as she draws importance to human connection, seeking to understand rather than being understood, and apologizing. My favorite part of the video is when she tells the audience about the message that she instils in her students. She says “I am somebody. I was somebody when I came, I’ll be a better somebody when I leave. I am powerful and I am strong. I deserve the education that I get here. I have things to do, people to impress, and places to go”. She explains that this matters because if you say something enough, it starts to be a part of you. Later in the presentation, she tells the audience the ways in which this makes a good teacher by explaining that teachers are great actors and actresses because we get up each day and go to work even when we don’t feel like it and we follow policy that we don’t understand, and we just teach anyway because that’s what we do. In my opinion, it takes a special person to be a teacher and you need to be able to stand by that statement that she made in order to be a good at what you’re doing; in order to be a champion. At the end of the video, Ms. Pierson explains that “every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be”. This is what I want to be. This is why I am motivated by this video.
