Coach Carswell is one of the longest tenured CrossFit coaches in the world. He is also widely considered one of, if not the best trainer in our space. He has coached over 500 Level 1 & Level 2 Seminars where we go to learn and earn our credentials and has coached thousands of athletes all over the world. He was one of the first coaches to obtain the CF-L4 designation which is currently only obtainable by a direct commission from CrossFit HQ. As of this post less than 5% of CrossFit coaches worldwide have this credential. Coach Carswell is a living embodiment of all of the skills and character traits that any good leader should strive for. Not only is he a master at teaching, seeing, and correcting movement; he is also extremely empathetic and has the ability to connect with people on a deep level in a very short time frame. He is an outstanding coach, an even better man, and someone who I look up to and strive to emulate.

They are made by hard effort, which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.” In my opinion, Cristiano Ronaldo can be described as a unique leader inside the field. His essence of commitment and professionalism he puts in every single training and match is something that makes him one of the best of the world. He is the kind of leaders that push hard on his teammates. In this video made by Real Madrid C.F when he decides to leave Spain, we can see how important was to Real Madrid to have a player as Cristiano to achieve all those important titles. He helped Real Madrid to conquer the Champions League four times after 12 years without winning this title. In total, he won 16 titles in Real Madrid, with not doubt his leadership helped Real Madrid to make history in this beautiful sport.

I chose to post this video of Serena Williams winning the Australian open in 2015. I wanted to pick the video of her winning speech because I think it is not only a motivating factor but also a humbling video in the way she accepted her award. Although I do not personally play tennis, it is one of my all time favorite sports to watch. Being a female athlete myself at the collegiate level and from a young age have always looked up to female athletes that have pushed their way through sports. Though Serena Williams won such a known award she could have had a boastful amount of energy when accepting the award and could have just thanked her fellow colleagues for her success. Instead she went on to congratulate her own competition, “Maria Sharapova” a women’s tennis player from Russia who came in second. This winning speech is unlike any other and exemplifies the way any person should act when accepting an award or being recognized. For being such a known name, black female athlete in a predominantly white fan base, Serena Williams speech was pronounced with nothing but humbling respect, class, and honor.

I chose Micheal Jordan as my role model. In this video it shows some of Jordan’s best plays of his career. Micheal Jordan is a huge inspiration to me, especially because i play basketball. He is someone I look up to. He is disciplined and he is one of the most hardworking players I’ve ever seen.

I chose David Beckham as a great leader because he has always been a role model to me and my friends who play soccer. His reputation, name, success on the field, and more have all brought his influence around the world. He has been an ambassador both on and off the field, and for many organizations. Beckham is always very dedicated, and committed to being a better player on the field and person off the field. He has always shown how driven he is, and how when you put your mind on something you can accomplish anything.

This video is about a speech that Mathew McConaughey gave about being a hero. Within the video he mentions self growth and always chasing himself. When asked who’s his hero, Mathew replies “Its myself- in 10 years”. Every ten year mark, he shifts his hero to himself in ten years. This forces hi to keep chasing greatness and a better version of himself. He emphasizes spending more time on your self growth and improving yourself.

I would imagine many of our classmates would choose some of the most inspirational sport players and leaders in the world and rightfully so. I decided to go in another direction and choose a fictional character that I’ve turned to for the better part of the last 35 years. The Rocky franchise began with the original in 1976 (1977 Best Picture winner). The franchise built itself on being a true underdog story. With each movie there is a part during the final act that Rocky gets an inspirational speech, usually from his wife Adrian or Apollo Creed, “his leaders” of the movies. This pivotal point in the movie ignites his training and drives him to countless victories. In the 2006 movie, Rocky Balboa, he delivers a speech that still gives me chills. His son is finding life difficult and Rocky becomes that “leader” that his son needs. I was also dealing with some personal issues in 2006 and this speech became my mantra and helped me through some difficult decisions. I also tend to revert back to the scene and the movie in particular. Enjoy.

This video is just one of many motivational speeches given by Arnold Schwarzenegger. He is a very inspiring leader. He originally came to America to just be a body builder, he never thougbt he was going to be famous on tv and in movies. In this specific video he just pumps up the audience and challenges everybody to challenge themselves to do more than they are already doing. Go beyond your limit until you can’t anymore.

I have been a big fan of Eric Thomas for many years now and I feel that his speeches can relate to anyone in any situation. Eric Thomas is one of the top motivational speakers in the world. The reason I chose this specific speech from Eric Thomas is because of how relatable it is to real life. It talks about being in a bad spot in your life or going through some form of pain and how you can control how you come out of it. In my opinion I feel like he can give people the push to start fixing whatever their problem is but ultimately he reminds them that its up to you to achieve the outcome you want. I hope this helps anyone who needs to hear it.

Hi, my name is Danny Perez and I chose this video about Arnold Schwarzenegger and his motivation to achieve his goals. Arnold Schwarzenegger is arguably the most famous bodybuilder of all time. Aside from bodybuilding, he is also a world renowned actor and former California politician. In this video, he describes the importance of being goal oriented and dedicating his time to achieving those goals. He describes his daily routine that consisted of things that would build himself up and propel him forward to achieve his goal. After watching this video I realized that a goal is just a dream if one does not make the necessary daily steps to achieve those goals.

My name is Owen Green, I chose this video of Former manager of Bayern Munich, and current manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola giving an intense teaching moment to a young Joshua Kimmich after they drew 0-0 against Borussia Dortmund. I feel this video shows what a great leader Guardiola is because after Kimmich having a very good game against their rivals, Guardiola is coaching him instantly after the match telling him what needs to be corrected and what he needs to do to be great. you can not hear what Guardiola is actually saying but he commentators say that this is what will make kimmich great, the advice given in order to improve his game on small mistakes. this is also something I feel is great leadership because I have expired this first hadn’t with my former coach here at FIU, after beating another school 5-0, my former coach comes up to me after the game to tell me the one thing I did wrong and explain to me what to better and what to do next time. and conversations like that, to me shows great leadership because I shows the coach has truly good intentions for the player.

My name is Koby Perez. I chose this video of Hall of fame baseball executive Pat Gillik. I was fortunate enough to briefly work with Pat and was impressed on how such a high ranking executive always knew all the employee’s names (even the very low and entry level people). His ability to make everyone feel like part of the team is unmatched. Very humble and approachable. Anyone looking to be a sports executive should take a page out of Pat’s book.

MIREYA LUIS

Alejandrina Mireya Luis Hernández, Cuban volleyball player who was one of the world’s leading figures in the sport. At the age of fifteen he joined the national team of Cuba. Under the leadership of Mireya Luis, the team won gold three consecutive times from the Olympic Games: in Barcelona (1992), Atlanta (1996) and Sydney (2000). He retired from high competition in 2000. Among his most remembered qualities, the vigor of his attack and the power of his jumps stand out, in which he used to rise above three meters. Mireya is one of my inspirations within my favorite sport, volleyball. Not just for being an excellent player of the ball and net, but for her humility. Mireya always distinguished himself by his humility at all times. It was characterized by its discipline inside and outside the net.

This is Will Saborido. Growing up in South Florida, I am naturally a fan of all Miami teams including Miami Heat. With Dwayne Wade retiring, the Heat’s new star is Jimmy Butler. I have long been a huge fan of Jimmy Butler because of his competitiveness and toughness. Jimmy had a bad reputation early in his career for being a poor teammate and was called a selfish player. This is not the case anymore. Jimmy Butler arrived in Miami and has shown the world who he really is. He showed up to his first Heat practice at 3:30 AM, when practice did not begin until 10. He has consistently worked hard and set an example for the younger players. Headlines about Butler are no longer negative, but talk about how he supports his teammates. The hard work is paying off as the Heat have had a fantastic season and are looking to make a run in the playoffs behind Jimmy Butler’s leadership.

Ryan Day
Tim Tebow was my favorite player by far when I was growing up being a Florida Gator fan. In this video it was his promise to Florida fans across the country about how things are going to turn around. With Tebow coming off a Heisman Trophy the year before Florida was expected to run the table and beat everyone on their way to a national championship. That plan was changed when they were upset at home to Ole Miss. At the podium he sends a promise out to the fans that no one is going to push the rest of the team harder than he is and how no one is going to play harder than him for the rest of the season. He made well with his promise as they went on to win the national championship that year.

Hello my name is Julen Altuna and for one of my favorite leaders i picked Tom Coughlin. Tom Coughlin was the head coach of the New York Giants where he won two super bowls with the team as a head coach. He was a very strict leader according to his players. Many of the payers disliked him at first because of how strict he was and he was on the verge of losing the team. Many players expressed to him that he was too up tight and he kept his strict ways but bonded with the players. This allowed the team to come together and she that if the head coach could change his ways for the better of the team why can’t the players change their ways. This helped the Giants as team go on two great playoff runs and beat the best team in the last decade twice. Many of the players love Tom Coughlin once they were able to be on the same page and were able to accomplish the number one goal which was to win the super bowl.

My name is Kate Lopez and Jill Ellis is someone that I personally have looked up to for years. She was the US Women’s National Soccer Team head coach from 2014 to 2019. She won two back to back FIFA World Cups, the first coach to do that in the women’s game. She broke many records while head coach but always was humble about it on camera. I look up to her because she is a true leader. She has a vision and knows how to take the positive attributes of each player and putting them together in the best way possible. In this video, Ellis and the CEO of the New York Times say “every day is game day” and that is something that I think is crucial to the success of a team or company.

My name is Xavier Santeiro and I chose Tom Brady. I’ve been watching Tom Brady since he played for Michigan. He’s been a leader since day one. He would always be the first one in the building last one to leave the building. He led by example. He motivated his teammates by always striving to be better. He won his first super bowl his first year as a starter. That could’ve been his only one and it is an amazing accomplishment. He continued striving to be better and he has now won 6 total super bowls. He works so hard it just makes you want to work hard.
