    My name is Karson Bell.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEIDjB7uyFc
I chose this video clip because it really shows how to lead a team with a common goal. John Harbaugh is a NFL coach for the Baltimore Ravens and leads his team on and off the field. In this clip he shows the value of selflessness and being able to want not just you but everyone around you to be better. It is not about what goal I can accomplish such as a Superbowl but what we can do. Having that mindset will make you play harder for the people beside you. I think the leadership that he is trying to portray here is the reason that they are able to be a successful team and why they are constantly the top of their division. If we take this into our everyday life and into every team we are apart of then all the people around us will be better. If everyone around us is better then it will push yourself to be a better you.

  • Mary Stoiana

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0b8PLQJ3bCk
    My name is Mary Stoiana.
The video chip I chose was about a leader in the professional tennis world named Billie Jean King. I chose this clip because it explains Billie Jean King’s story and how she broke down barriers of inequality between men and women’s sports, specifically tennis, and achieving equal prize money between the ATP and the WTA, both of the men and women’s professional tennis associations. King was a successful tennis player and strived to affirm equal prize money in professional tennis by threatening to boycott her home grand slam of the US Open in which she had already won in the past. King was an effective leader because she fiercely advocated for women’s rights and gender equality by taking risks and putting herself out there to prove equality. She was the first real figure to speak out about this matter. She was also successful in her sport, winning multiple grand slam titles, which helped prove her credibility when speaking on important matters. Attention was drawn to gender inequality in women’s sports when she famously defeated Bobby Riggs in the “Battle of the Sexes” match in 1973. She truly revolutionized women’s sports and drove the movement for social change in a national spotlight.

  • Jake Kennedy

Hi my name is Jake Kennedy and my leader is Tim Tebow

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AANukKd64X0

After recently watching the newest documentary about the Florida Gators on netflix, it was made clear to me that Tim Tebow was a significant leader on the teams that won two national championships over three years. He was someone who led by example in the way his work ethic showed on the field. There were many instances where other players would mention that they would be partying and recall seeing Tebow working out late at night. Something that personally stood out to me is how he takes responsibility for his actions. For example after a devastating loss to Ole Miss, he made an emotional speech that went viral for the how he needed to do better. This is something that is important that all leaders should have. His faith is something that admires me as well as it sets a foundation for his beliefs. He has vocalized his beliefs many times and I feel like this makes it admirable because he is not afraid to stand for what he believes in. It may not always be about faith but it can also translate to other aspects of leadership as well. Tim Tebow will always have my respect as a leader even though he may be a Florida Gator.

  • mary

Hello, my name is Mary Hall and my leader is Margret Thatcher.
I chose Margret Thatcher because she is in inspiration to so many, and she is also a person that the younger generation does not know very well. Thatcher, was the first women British Prime minister within the time of 1975-1990 and her nickname within her time of ruling was the “Iron Lady.” She was known was creating economic policies that has helped Great Britain survive to this day, and it is called Thatcherism. She was a leader in many different ways, she was a stern leader but she was also fair. She lead by example throughout her whole course of being Prime Minister. The video I chose today, were comprised clips from some of her greatest speeches, and it shows how she stood with dignity and fortitude. Through out her political career she understood the trials and tribulation and took all the hate and love with a grain of salt. She took the hate that some gave her and she used it as a what can I correct and do better the next time. She is a person who stuck to her beliefs, had a vision, strove to be a teacher, and was a very decisive leader throughout her all of her years.

  • Connor Clelland

My name is Connor Clelland and for my leader I chose Tony Dungy.

    https://youtu.be/eQTT4hOW42o?si=eCrEpBDSEdtIGvKe

I chose Tony Dungy (former NFL head coach) because I always admired his humility and his kindness of going through life while still managing to inspire and cause change around the people he worked with. This video does a great job of capturing his essence of being a soft spoken yet powerful speaker. They way he is so open about-facing challenges and setbacks and being able to rise above them because, in a way, they need to happen is so crucial to the way I think in my life and that is why I feel an attachment to his mentoring style. In the video he speaks so highly about breaking the standard stereotype of coaches or leaders ,in general, being cutthroat in order to win respect or to succeed. He mentions that the quality of the person really impacts how your organization or employees (team) view you, respect you, and willingness to follow your lead. Also, it is stated in the video that he coaches/leads his players the way he would want to be lead. A great attribute of a leader is being able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes to see the possible impact of what you are providing. Tony Dungy is a great human who knows who HE is and knows how HE wants to lead others, while still being open to new ideas and ready to face any hardships that come his way. All of these are significant signs of a true leader (and some we learned in class as well).

  • Ivan Loya

My name is Ivan Loya and my leader is Don Haskins.

I chose Don Haskins because he was a revolutionary coach and figure in the game of basketball. Don Haskins is a Naismith Hall of Fame basketball coach and is recognized for changing the game forever. In 1966 he was the coach down at Texas Western University in El Paso, Texas. Don was known for playing the best players on the court regardless of race or color. So in 1966 he took a majority black team to the national championship game and was the first coach to ever start all five black players in a game. This team ended up defeating Adolf Rupp’s all-white player Kentucky team, making history. Don broke the color barrier because he only wanted one thing, and that was to win. His ability to communicate with all walks of life made him a great leader and facilitator. When he coached he wanted perfection from every player on his court. He was determined, fearless, and passionate about his players and the sport he taught. After coaching at UTEP for 38 seasons, Don went on to have a career 719-353 record, 14 NCAA tournament appearances, 7 WAC Championships, and 7 trips to the NIT. Plus until Baylor won the natty in 2021, Don “The Bear” Haskins was the only coach in Texas to win the granddaddy of college basketball.

  • Joseph Castro

My name is Joseph Castro, and my leader is Ray Lewis. When I think of a great leader, I think of qualities such as accountability, discipline, determination, and the ability to motivate others. Whether it was coaching up his teammates or presenting motivational speeches to the world, Ray Lewis demonstrated the qualities of what a leader should be. For those who may not know, Ray Lewis is a former Hall of Fame linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens. Lewis played all 17 years of his NFL career with the Ravens and won two Super Bowls during this span, including Super Bowl MVP in Super Bowl XXXV. As a player, Lewis was the undisputed captain of the Raven’s defense for nearly 20 years. Having Lewis on the team was comparable to having a coach on the field. He made sure that his teammates took care of their assignments while ensuring them that he was taking care of his duties as a linebacker. His loyalty to not just his team but to the city of Baltimore is a true testament to what kind of leader he is. He was an adamant server in the community. He gave time and resources to help the situations of others. In addition to his achievements as a player, Ray Lewis was a tremendous motivational speaker. He inspires others with his anecdotes of trials and tribulations. He talks about the hardships he faced as a child and emphasizes how hard he worked to obtain a better life for his family through football. Lewis’s testimonies are both inspiring and eye-opening. No matter your background or history, Ray Lewis believes that through discipline and determination, anyone can achieve greatness.

I chose this clip because, despite whether or not Ray Lewis was playing, he inspired and fired up the Ravens’ players before they went to battle. He told them to hold each other accountable and to be loyal to one another. As you watch the video, you can see that he is commanding the attention of everybody. This clip is just one of Ray Lewis’ many motivational speeches. I believe that every one of us can learn from him and inspire the next generation of leaders.

  • Cody McLerran

Hello, I am Cody McLerran and I have decided to post Inky Johonson who was a Tennessee Football player who had been injured and became a motivational speaker. Inky speaks on his challenges and what happened to him during the first 20 years of his life and the adversity he went through to accomplish his goals. He had a vison on where he would be in life and being a D1 football player. He communicates this by telling others on what one can do to prove they can be where they need to be and lead one’s mind and train it to believe oneself. Inky proves that through his commitment in his plan that he was able to change his path and what others thought and many others have followed in his footsteps. Another of his qualities which is a unique one is he is a great teacher by showing his family that they could leave the situation they were in and be more. He now goes around and mentors many people and teams on what is better for them and what needs to be done to be successful and teach them through his knowledge and experiences. Inky is a leader by the way he changes people lives and is himself by keeping together and giving them challenges and expectations for them to realize what they can do better. This is why I have chosen him because many years I have listened to him as a leader.

  • Grant Ireland

Howdy, my name is Grant Ireland and my favorite leader is Deion Sanders. Sanders was a two sport athlete playing football and baseball in collegiate and professional levels. One distinct characteristic about Sanders is that he was unabashedly himself, he knew he was the man. He had an image of who he wanted to be and played every game with supreme confidence in himself, inspiring athletes across the nation for years to come. He always dressed flashy and had a confident demeanor that made me want to be like him. My favorite quote from Sanders is “They don’t pay nobody to be humble”. This quote resonated with me because many of us often downplay ourselves and our achievements unnecessarily. Sanders now has built a college coaching career, first at Jackson State and now the University of Colorado Boulder. In his speeches, Coach Prime communicates to his team what he expects of them. He expects sacrifice, whole heartedness, and effort to earn spots on his roster. In the linked clip, Coach Prime elaborates on the players earning their jersey numbers. I believe that by lighting a fire under his players, Prime can achieve better results from his players and create better competitors. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cu4LPfImpPw

  • Bryce Foster

Howdy, my name is Bryce Foster and my favorite leader is Peyton Manning. He is considered one of the NFL’s greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game of football. Peyton knew that his greatness to the game was not about his athletic ability, but moreso his ability to play smart and learn tendencies of the opposing defense he was playing. He was never a cocky guy, but he knew that in order for his team to be successful, he would have to play well. The teams he played on would have been extremely average if it were not for him. Another reason he is a leader is because he would admit when he made the mistakes and try to improve himself based off of those mistakes.

  • Danielle Laurel

Howdy, my name is Danielle, and the leader that I find most motivating is Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, also known as Mother Teresa. If selflessness were a person, Mother Teresa would be it. I believe that the best trait a leader can have is selflessness. Mother Teresa accomplished goals that involved helping people experiencing poverty. In Calcutta, where she was stationed as a Nun, she founded multiple missionaries and ministered to those who were diseased, orphaned, dying, and poor. Mother Teresa’s whole life was dedicated to others’ wants and needs and the worship of God. I chose this clip of Mother Teresa because it portrays the crowds of people she helped and the devastation of how others lived. This video will help you realize how lucky you are to have the life you live now. The kindness and hard work of helping over 40,000 people in Calcutta made her well known. However, Mother Teresa did not do it for fame, nor did she have to help these unfortunate people. She could have lived a more egocentric life, but this is not what she was destined to do. Mother Teresa’s name will forever go down in history as one of the best leaders due to her creating homes for the unwanted and dying.

  • Sarah Jordan

Hi, my name is Sarah Jordan and a leader that I look up to in the sporting world is Kim Mulkey. Kim Mulkey might be one of the most motivating women in college athletics. She has many accomplishments such as winning the NCAA women’s national championship as a head coach, an assistant coach, and a head coach. She was a great basketball player as well at Louisiana Tech University and won two national championships in her college career. She has also accomplished two gold medals in the Olympics with USA Basketball.
Her coaching style is that she is extremely tough, passionate, and involved with her players. She motivates her girls through her enthusiasm and determination to win. She is known for her energy on the sidelines and believes that her players are capable of beating every single opponent they play. She has change women’s basketball for the better. She has caused sales to skyrocket and views to increase as her season with LSU went on. The women’s national championship hit 9.9 million views which is a new record. Mulkey has changed the game and made every woman in sports feel seen.
She has motivated women by saying and setting the example that they can do anything that they put their minds to.

  • Samantha Haro

My name is Samantha Haro and a leader that I look up to in the world of sport is Gregg Popovich. While I’m not the strongest follower of the San Antonio Spurs, I’ve always been intrigued by Popovich’s personal leadership style. Despite being known for his passionate and at times aggressive approach to coaching, I believe there’s more than on court coaching that makes him an admirable leader. Generally speaking, I admire how he goes the extra mile to bring his team together, not just on the court, but also off. An example of this is how he speaks numerous languages when interacting with individual players to accommodate for the fact that the Spurs has many international players. Another example for how Popovich strives for a connected off court relationship with his players is his team dinners. I admire how he views the cultural differences on his team as an opportunity rather than a sign of weakness. Overall, his emphasis on team building has immensely contributed to his success as a leader and is a quality that I greatly look up to. Below, I attached a clip from his Hall of Fame induction speech where he describes his relationship with a few well known players from the Spurs. I think this clip does an excellent job of demonstrating the personal relationships he has developed with his team members.

  • Taylor Westerfeld

My name is Taylor Westerfeld and the leader I chose is Jim Valvano.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuoVM9nm42E

I chose Jim because he was and always will be an incredible leader. He was a basketball player in his youth and then became a coach as a young adult. He coached at Rutgers University, Bucknell, Iona, and finished his career at NC State. He is one of the most impactful people in my life although I never got a chance to meet him. He led with passion, pursuit, kindness, and extreme dedication to the sport and the athletes he coached. He was loved by everyone and hated by none because of his attitude towards the game of basketball and life itself. He was a good communicator and effectively got his points across which allowed him to be very successful in his coaching career. He always meant what he said and said what he meant, but he never said it mean. Every year in high school, my volleyball team did a fundraiser and all proceeds went to the Jimmy V foundation for cancer research. He was diagnosed with a rare cancer that took his life in 1993, but he was still so grateful for the life he got to live as a coach. He said it was always his dream to coach and he was clearly motivated to become a better one each and every day. I included this clip from his most famous speech to represent just how great his attitude was towards coaching and life no matter the circumstance which has led me to believe he is one of the greatest leaders of all time.

  • Lauren Mariott

    https://youtu.be/sVs5MiXNjUY?si=6aS7DuSFFj9MePs2
Hi, my name is Lauren Mariott and a leader that I find very motivating is Simone Biles. She is arguably one of the best female athletes to come from this generation and continues to prove that she can raise the bar even higher. Biles is the US women’s most decorated gymnast and a huge advocate for mental health in athletes. She had shocked the world in 2021 when she withdrew herself from several Olympic events following her mental block that she was experiencing. While she received a lot of backlash, she also received a lot of support. Biles proved to fans that she not only works extremely hard, but also prioritizes her health both mentally and physically. I believe this made her even more motivating to athletes everywhere proving that even though it is important to push yourself to reach your goals, it is also important to be self-aware and allow your body/mind the proper time to heal. She reached her ultimate goal of being an Olympian and excelling at it, but she also chose to take care of herself during arguably one of the most high pressure situations an athlete can face. I think it takes a lot of courage to admit what was going on, especially with how many eyes were on her. Therefore, I believe that made her even more of an influential leader. If her medals and titles do not convince you what kind of leader she is, her courage and dedication should!

  • Mackenzie Stuart

Howdy, my name is Mackenzie Stuart. Recently, a new leader in a new, modern fight has emerged. Riley Gaines, is someone I have completely looked up to with the reveal of new issues in women’s sports. Gaines was a collegiate swimmer at the University in Kentucky, when she competed against a transgender women in the NCAA College Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships in 2022, Lia Thomas. Gaines first saw Thomas competing, when she beat out Olympians to win the 500-freestyle in the 2022 Women’s Championship. Not long after, Gaines and Thomas, both tied for 5th place in 200-freestyle, but there was only one trophy. So, for the “Photo’s sake,” Thomas was given the trophy, and Gaines left empty handed. Ever since this moment, Gaines has set a mission, transgender women, or men that have transitioned to a women, should not belong in women’s sports. There are many reasons for this want for women’s sports to be secluded to women, but there have been some necessary steps that need to be taken. First, Gaines has pushed the Kentucky State Government to finalize a law that states what a women really is. This law now, bans transgender women for competing in women sports from the sixth grade through the collegiate level. Everything Gaines has done up to this far is an amazing accomplishment. I believe Gaines is one of the newest leaders that the new generation is going to look up to do what is right.

  • Jacob Murray

    https://youtu.be/pJiXu4q__VU?si=_sz_BFKLcX44PxVb
Howdy, my name is Jacob Murray. The leader that I chose to discuss is the great Nelson Mandela. The clip that I chose is from Mr. Mandela’s Inauguration speech when he won the presidency of South Africa. I chose this speech because you can see in the speech how uniting Mandela is. I also chose this speech because Mr. Mandela was the first ever democratically elected president in South Africa’s history. Having such a strong leader for a country that had an apartheid system before him is very important for the future of South Africa. Mr. Mandela really did a great job leading his country as it transitioned from apartheid to a republic. Mr. Mandela possessed many characteristics of a great leader, including integrity, courage, respect, and empathy. You don’t need to know the entire history of South Africa to know that Nelson Mandela is a great leader, you can just watch his speeches and see for yourself how impressive he is. South Africa desperately needed someone to lead them through a very tough time in their history. Luckily they had one of the best leaders ever to help them get through it.

  • Gehrig Booth

Hello! My name is Gehrig Booth and I believe one of the greatest leaders of all time is Coach Nick Saban. Not only has he brought success to every program that he has ever been to, but he also has helped athletes reach their full potential as players, and as men. One of the things I find most admirable about Coach Saban is his leadership. The amount of different personalities on a football field is staggering. You have different people from different backgrounds that have all been taught to play differently. Coach Saban states in this clip that He has learned to use those differing personalities and play styles to his advantage. This shows his vision as a leader and proves just how great of a teacher he really is. He coaches all of these different players differently based on their personalities and play styles. He learned this when he was coaching in the NFL under Bill Belichick who is another incredible leader. Being able to be open and learn different coaching methods and styles and then using those methods for greatness shows just how dedicated Saban is to his craft and how much of a natural leader he is. This video clip comes from one of the best documentaries I have ever seen called “Belichick and Saban: The Art of Coaching” on Max. It is the most eye-opening documentary I have ever seen because it follows the annual conversation that these two legendary coaches have once a year in the offseason. They each share their styles, thoughts, and wisdom about the art of coaching and leading a group of men whether it is at the professional or collegiate level. I chose Coach Saban for this assignment not just to highlight his greatness and leadership skills, I also to look up to him since I one day want to coach a Power Five football program. By researching his coaching methods and leadership styles, I one day hope to be as great as he is.

  • Austin Colescott

    https://youtu.be/SIOSNBh3Yz4?si=7c9tGnaSRCx6HOaH

Howdy, my name is Austin Colescott, and the leader I find most motivating is Rudy Tomjanovich. Growing up, Rudy always wanted to play in the NBA one day. Showing his passion early on, he etched the words; “I love basketball” into his bed frame. Every night Tomjanovich dreamed of one day dribbling down the court alongside professional basketball players. Tomjanovich soon achieved this goal. As a player, he had a hard-nose style on the court that expressed his passion and commitment to the game. After playing on the San Diego/Houston Rockets as a 5x NBA all-star, Rudy T moved on to scouting and eventually became the coach of the Houston Rockets. Transitioning into coaching, Rudy T effectively communicated with each player. Actively encouraging his players, he ensured every player was on the same page and reinforced the culture he put together. Rudy T molded his players into individuals that wanted to win as much as they wanted to breathe. Leading the Houston Rockets to back-to-back NBA championships, Rudy T orchestrated one of the NBA’s most unlikely playoff runs when many doubted their return to the finals. As a coach, he emphasized the importance of passion and togetherness incomparable to anything seen in sports today. With Hakeem Olajuwon at the helm, Rudy T lit the fire under the team, giving them the heart necessary to accomplish such feats. I believe Rudy Tomjanovich is one of the most underrated coaches and a leader who embodies immense spirit and passion for the game. Rudy Tomjanovich once said, “Don’t ever underestimate the heart of a champion.”

  • Caden Fry

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Chx9POp2bJA
Howdy, my name is Caden Fry and for this leadership assignment I chose the great quarterback, Tom Brady. Leadership can come in many shapes and forms, but I think the only way you can showcase true leadership is working as a team and winning. Tom Brady had his team fighting to the death for him every week. In this clip with Terry Bradshaw he is talking about the way a team views a quarterback and the leadership mentality it takes for that team to trust and believe in him. He would make sure every play he is showing confidence to keep his teammates from getting worried or down on themselves. A good example of great leadership from Tom was during his comeback on the Atlanta Falcons in the Super Bowl, he stayed calm and composed and told his team that they were going to win that game. It just shows the type of trust and lead Tom had on his team, not only did he have the leadership on the field, but also off too. Tom took many pay-cuts and reduced salaries to make sure his teammates could get the money they deserve and to keep the team competitive around him. This shows selflessness and definitely helps his teammates realize the kind of leader Tom is. With winning 7 Super Bowls and many personal accomplishments, it is pretty hard to argue that Tom Brady is not one of the greatest leaders of all time.

  • Katie Turlington

Howdy, my name is Katie Turlington. I chose Serena Williams as my leader, because not only is she one of the greatest female athletes, she is so much more than an athlete. She is a phenomenal leader, while performing at the top level while tackling being a wife, a mother, and philanthropist. In 2008, she founded the Serena Williams Foundation to help unprivileged children and those who have suffered from violent crimes. As well as serving in that area, in 2009 she became an international goodwill ambassador for UNICEF. Not only is Serena paving the way for future female athletes, she is doing her best to make a lot of children’s lives better as well. Serena is able to fail, as she has time and time again, and preserve and learn from her mistakes. She has shown the world that female athletes are just as worthy as their male counterparts, even so when she was pregnant. I chose this video because I believe these encouraging words from Serena showcase how great of a leader she is. She is fearless, motivated, determined, hard-working and above all she is a great example not only for young athletes, but young children in general.

  • Nisa Buzlutepe

Howdy, my name is Nisa Buzlutepe. I chose Michael Jordan as my leader because he is one of the greatest athletes of all time and he has a mentality that I try to apply in my life as an athlete. He won six titles with Chicago Bulls, he was 14-time All-Star, 6-time finals MVP, and 5-time NBA MVP. After I watched the documentary “The Last Dance” I understood why he is Michael Jordan. He had an amazing mentality, he wasn’t afraid to fail, he learned from his mistakes, never gave up and was willing to put the work in, pushed his teammates to be the best version of themselves and one of the most important things for me is that he led by example. He never asked for something that he didn’t do. He had a win it at all cost mentality and he was willing to do literally anything to win. He also loved to prove people wrong and I think that was what drove him the most. After they lost to Orlando Magic in 1995, he immediately started working for the next season. Another example that shows his mentality is the Flu Game, he was sick but he knew he had responsibilities against his team and the people who were watching him and he showed up to that game and led his team to a win. Even when he was playing baseball with the work ethic he had he was there to get extra reps and he was getting better each day. I think one of the reasons why people consider him as the greatest of all time is not because what he accomplished is because of how he accomplished.

  • Gabe Rayer

Meet Dan Campbell, the Lions Head Coach known as “Motor City Dan,” who transitioned from an NFL player to a passionate leader. His career evolution embodies his deep connection with the game. A former player for multiple teams, he brings a unique perspective to his coaching role, understanding his players’ challenges intimately. A defining moment was captured in the tearful post-game interview after a heart-wrenching loss to the Saints. This emotional display showcases Campbell’s authenticity and genuine care for his team. His tears symbolize more than defeat; they represent a coach who values his players as individuals, emphasizing unity and support. It is a reminder that his coaching philosophy extends beyond victories, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his players’ growth and well-being, regardless of their roles. Campbell’s tears resonate beyond sports, underscoring the significance of empathy and connection in coaching. His approach counters win-at-all-costs mentalities, fostering a loyalty and dedication that binds the team as a united family. In essence, Dan Campbell’s tearful interview transcends football, embodying his role as a mentor and motivator who prioritizes genuine relationships over just winning games.

  • Sean Dewey

My name is Sean Dewey. I chose Buzz Williams as my leader because I love the way he mentors his athletes and everyone in his life. Buzz is not only the head men’s basketball coach at Texas A&M, but he is a leader and a teacher. I love that Buzz does so much more than coach basketball because he teaches so many life lessons along the way to his players that will help them in their life. Buzz is a great coach and has taken many of his teams to the National Tournament, but I think one could argue that even though winning basketball games is his job, developing his guys into men and teaching them essential lessons has an even greater impact in their lives. This video is from a #getbetter session where Buzz teaches the team what he believes will be valuable to them in their life. In the video, he teaches his team how to properly introduce yourself. I definitely learned a few things watching the video myself and I imagine everyone involved in the making of this video did too. I chose Buzz Williams as my leader because he does more than what is asked of him and that is part of what a leader does.

My name is Jeremy Sherwin and I chose Tom Brady. I chose this clip of Tom Brady because he defines greatness, there hasn’t been a better leader or winner in the history of the NFL. Tom Brady is an effective leader, throughout his career he put the team ahead of himself. With him being a 6th round pick, I believe lots of his leadership qualities were shown because he cared about every single one of his teammates no matter if they were a first-round pick or undrafted. His leadership continued. Throughout his career, he would take the blame for his teammates whenever they wouldn’t make a catch or whenever they lost. There were many examples of Tom Brady being a team player, but throughout his career, he took many pay cuts so he could keep the best talent around him. Helping his teammates put up the best production and getting them paid. He also continued to help his teammates get better with many receivers like Wes Welker and Julian Edelman who were not covered in the draft process and got them to be number one receivers on Super Bowl teams. He continued to be a great leader throughout his whole 20-year career, winning 7 Super Bowls with 2 different franchises.

  • Hannah O’Brien

Howdy, My name is Hannah Obrien. The leader I chose is a woman named Kim Ng, the General Manager for the Miami Marlins. Having received her title in November of 2020, she has paved the way for many women dreaming of one day working in a male dominated industry. She began her career with the White Sox as a special project analyst. She eventually was hired by the Yankees, becoming the youngest ever female assistant manager in the MLB. After several different roles and preserving in a male dominated industry, she was hired as the general manager for the Marlins. She is inspirational to me because she has proved that through hard work and determination you can do anything you put your mind to. As a young woman dreaming of a career in sports, I know that as my career continues I will face challenges just because I am a woman. But seeing women like Kim in positions that women never even dreamed of having is the most amazing thing. One of my passions is to draw more awareness to the inequality that women face in the sports industry. Being able to have role models like Kim means the world to me. She is one of the several women in the sports industry that I look up and and often draw inspiration from. the video I chose is her Forbes 50 over 50 interview. This video is inspirational to me not only because her making a Forbes list is incredible, but she talks about preserving in times of adversity. She talks about how she was rejected by over 10 organizations but no matter what she never gave up and she eventually found a team that would take a chance on her.

  • Brendan Fahy

Hey yall my name is Brendan Fahy and I would like yall to meet Devin McCourty. He played football for the New England Patriots for many years and was apart of the team when they went on their most recent dynasty run. The reason why i wanted to put this clip in is because Devin is known for his pregame speeches and hyping up his team. He is seen as one of the leaders of the team so when he talks people listen. But it is not just that if you were to listen to one of those speeches its hard not to get motivated yourself. The emotion the he speaks with is second to none. I think he is a leader because of the experience that he has, he gets looked up to by the young players. he is a teacher always giving out advice. he is always calm and collected even when things might get heated. I put this video down because you can kind of get a feel for what its maybe like. this video has clips from a couple of his speeches. I wanted to be able to show the best that i can that he is always there for his team, and he is always going to bring the right amount of energy for his team to respond to.

  • Sam Lee

My name is Sam Lee, and I chose Sir Alex Ferguson as my leader. He was the longest-serving manager of Manchester United with 26 years and the most successful British soccer manager, winning 48 titles in his career. In the video, he emphasized the importance of communication and recognition of your staffs. He says the two most powerful words are “well done.” It is a simple term but it’s very encouraging to the players on training field. Additionally, he suggests finding a channel of communication with the CEO and chairman, regardless of whether you believe they are at odds with you. As for recognition, he emphasized the importance of recognizing those who work for you, saying good morning and getting to know them, such as backroom staffs and laundry ladies. If an iconic, legendary manager like Sir Alex Ferguson says that the importance of communication was he had wished known earlier, then it really is a valuable skill to have.

    https://youtu.be/B4YWdUQIZSI?si=UZyxCk53ULqwKBIr&t=48

Hi, my name is Mason Ratliff, and the leader I chose to showcase is Kobe Bryant. Known for being the ultimate competitor during his time in the NBA, Kobe would take nothing less from his teammates. It is no secret that sometimes he could come across as a jerk, similar to his idol, Michael Jordan. Kobe would often go at his teammates in practice to force them to be better and to see if he could count on them when the lights were brightest, similar to MJ. This hard-nosed style is one that some respond to, and others don’t. While this is a polarizing effect, it paid dividends to the tune of five NBA titles when Kobe was surrounded by the right individuals. This style is very similar to other greats on the hardwood, such as Gregg Popovich and the aforementioned Michael Jordan. With the way professional athletes are today, I doubt you could coach/lead with this intense style anymore. But by looking at the track records of those three individuals, it may be worth the risk.

  • Bentley

Hello, my name is Bentley Miller and my leader is Winston Churchill. I chose Winston Churchill because of his relentlessness to motivate and inspire those around him. Winston Churchill was mostly known for leading Britain to victory in World War II. Before he became prime minister, he served as a politician. Through his time taking these roles he was known for being bold in his speeches. He spoke with confidence and every word he spoke had deep meaning and character. In the clip it’s talking about the current situation of the war. He talks about not quitting and continuing to push on. The point of these speeches was to motivate people into supporting a cause that was hard to maintain. In other words, during WWII was his most memorable time making a big impact on others. He was able to encourage British citizens that he was the right person for the job and they would win the war and most importantly that they would never give up. Learning about Winston Churchill has continuously made him a person I look up to. Winston’s ability to handle stress in time of judgment from politicians, war, and common struggles on a daily basis. To be called the “British Bulldog” described that he had grit and he showed his undying persistence and the cause he believed in which at the time was winning the war. He was able to have a clear mind through all chaos at the time of his time as Prime Minister. Even after the war, he still did everything to the best of his ability as a leader.

  • Haley Gafford

    https://youtu.be/42lz2Ergjq8

Hi, my name is Haley Gafford, and I find Pat Summitt to be a great leader. I chose this video not only because it shows how passionate Summitt was about basketball, but it also showed how she was as a coach. There are even some personal moments in the video that show what kind of person she was, which gives us another glimpse at the leader she was. Summitt was big on wanting to give good feedback to her players and a big part in this was the relationships she had with them. To be a good and get others to listen to you, you have to have a different bond with each person and let them know that you are there for them. Summitt was really big on this as she treated each player differently and fairly. She came up with different systems and sayings to use to get things across to her team more effectively and in a way that she knew they would understand. This is important in a leader because it shows how determined she was to having good communication within the team. Summitt coached 38 seasons without once having a losing record and won 84% of games at the end of her career.

  • Madi Erwin

Hi my name is Madi Erwin and my leader I choose for this discussion is Carli Lloyd. Carli Lloyd has a long time history of leading the USWNT to multiple world cup titles and through all of their season games. Carli Lloyd grew up in New Jersey and went to Rutgers University and played soccer there. She always prioritized her sport and being the best. As a captain of the U.S. Women’s National Team, she consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, leading by example both on and off the field. Her ability to stay composed under pressure, make critical decisions, and communicate effectively with her teammates has been a part of building the reputation she has. By taking time to mentor younger players, she has cultivated an environment of learning and development within the team. Lloyd’s leadership is characterized by her steadfast determination, resilience, and the constructive influence she has had on the game of soccer.

  • Kyle Dean

Howdy! My name is Kyle Dean and my leader is Draymond Green. The video clip I chose embodies a mentor type of leadership. While I am not the biggest Draymond fan, you cannot deny his leadership abilities. The way he coaches up the young guys on his team is remarkable. I chose this clip because you can clearly see him talking to the rookies and being patient with them and helping them learn from their mistakes. Draymond is an excellent communicator and listener which I feel is a key part of being an elite leader; especially in pro sports. The way he talks to these guys shows his passion for them and for the game itself. He might be frustrated with how they are playing, but he uses the mistakes as opportunities. Instead of telling them everything they did wrong and belittling them, he builds them up and coaches them on how to do better. This clip shows moments from mid-game, which is even more impressive that he coaches these young guys like this since it is in the heat of a game. I feel that Draymond Green is an excellent leader and this clip shows how receptive his team is to him.

  • Julian Aucoin

Howdy, my name is Julian Aucoin and I chose Nick Saban the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide as my leader. Yes, Coach Saban has seven national championships to his name, but that is not why he is a great leader. His teams experienced consistent success and dominance due to the level of accountability that he requires his players to have for one another. In his program he strives to push his players to not only be the best football player they can be but the best man they can be. In the clip below he mentions a story that Martin Luther King once told about a shoe polisher who took great pride in his job and ensured that he was the best at what he did. Saban relates this to the effort one puts into their passions. If one goes out every day and pout their best effort forward then they will be great. This is why Nick Saban is such a great leader because he teaches his players and coaches to see beyond the game of football. I believe this lesson has contributed to much of Nick Sabans coaching success as he has continued for a decade to establish a culture at Alabama of accountability, putting your best effort into whatever you do, and always do the right thing. While this clip is short it holds a strong weight on Sabans key principle of accountability. Now I ask you, what kind of leader do you want to be? How do you want to be remembered? DO you want to be the leader that brought others with them on their path to success? What defines you as a leader?

    https://youtu.be/zc_JDpy3PRs?si=fT12MzS875A2mSj8

Howdy, my name is Kasen Carpenter. I chose David Goggins as my leader. I chose him because of the way he holds himself and others around him accountable. Not only does he hold himself accountable, but he challenges his friends and even people he doesn’t know but they watch his videos to better themselves and to not cheat their body and mind. David prioritizes trying to “win the battle” in the morning. He encourages thousands of people who watch his videos to better themselves and to push themselves more than they think they can. He also relates himself to regular citizens. He was 300 pounds and lost all his weight and became a navy seal and triathlon runner, who never took water breaks. David’s true message is one overcoming adversity and pushing yourself to the limit and beyond. You could say he has an old school approach, honesty, personal accountability, and winning attitude are just some of the traits that make him apart of Team Never Quit! Personal accountability is one of David’s most important qualities a person can have, and he challenges everyone to posses this trait.

  • Connor Privitt

For this assignment, I chose Derek Jeter as my leader role model. He is labeled “The Captain” and it’s not just by coincidence. The Yankees name a captain on their team who exemplifies leadership and can carry the team on their back. Derek Jeter took this role very early in his career and is the staple man for that position. Everyone knows Jeter as the Captain. Not only was he a great baseball player, but he was heavily involved off the field with his charity organizations. He knew that he wanted to give back to the community and he did so more as he saw more success. Jeter was very selfless and did not let the fame get to his head. He knew his true north and did not stray away from it. He believed that his success did not come from what he did alone, but from what his team achieved together. He carried himself like a true professional, he was confident and not cocky. Ever since I was a young kid, I loved watching Jeter play and everything he did and stood for. I was definitely not a Yankees fan, however I was a Jeter fan. I chose this clip because it reflects Jeter’s accomplishments and his point of view of his leadership style and how he led his team. He truly led by example and that is something we all could learn from.

  • Clare Sanger

I chose Buster Posey because of his leadership on and off the field in the most important position in baseball. He lead the Giants in their three World Series Championships. On the field, he is a calming presence for pitchers and strives to create relationships with them so they can be in sync on the field. He is knowledgeable in the game and works hard to continue learning which shows in his mentorship of younger players that look up to him. When hitting, he is not pompous or in your face, and the team took up those behaviors to create a culture. He always brought a hard-working attitude that focused on being a team player. For the video, I chose an interview with Rob Brantly (was on the team with Buster for a while) who talked about how it was playing with him. He talks about his presence and how he commanded respect without needing to be a loud guy. I think he is a unique leader because he is an example of a quiet leader who leads by example, not necessarily just with words. https://youtu.be/0FNYXHiehnc?si=DdLAO70AVBCu7ubr&t=780

  • Bryanna Gayosso

Howdy! My name is Bryanna Gayosso and I chose Selena Gomez to write this discussion about. She was quiet frankly one of the first leaders that came to mind when thinking about who to write about. I grew up watching Selena Gomez on TV as many kids did too. She seemed to be a perfect teenage girl with everything going for her but that was far from true. In more recent times, she has became more open about her struggles she was encountering through these “perfect times”. In the clip I have attached, she is giving the audience a speech about being okay with not being perfect and embracing your path. She is a motivational figure to me because she has to complex to her about being able to relate “normal” people like me. Everyone has their issues and life is never easy for anyone.
Additionally, she has also became more prominent in social media platforms because of fans noticing some ‘drama’ between her and Hailey Bieber. Throughout these allegations and fans taking on different sides of the story, she has remained professional about the whole situation. Weather it was her choice to do that or her PR team, she set an amazing example for the millions of people watching her every move.

  • Gage Lott

The person that I chose for my leader is Larry Fitzgerald. The reason I decided to choose Larry Fitzgerald as my leader is because he has always been a very down-to-earth and humble athlete whenever I have seen him in interviews. This really stuck with me because he is an all-time great receiver, and he was never talking trash to opponents and was always picking up his teammates when they were down. Fitzgerald played all 17 seasons of his professional career for the Arizona Cardinals showing how committed he was to making that team the best it could be, and how he trusted that the general manager and owner of the team would build the team to make it great as well instead of leaving after a couple of bad seasons. In the video, Fitzgerald gives a lot of praise to the Arizona Cardinals’ owner, Michael Bidwill, for giving him an opportunity to play. Fitzgerald also talked about how difficult it was for him and his family at times but didn’t let that stop him from fighting for his dream to become a professional football player. Fitzgerald explained how he built his leadership aspect off of his faith, his focus on becoming great and looking forward to finishing and completing his life goals. This is something that really stuck with me when I watched the video because it showed how he had his set beliefs that kept him locked into leading his team on and off the field. This is what made him my favorite NFL player. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jetw6IwV-o

  • raphael perot

Howdy, my name is Raphael Perot. I chose the soccer player Ronaldo as an effective leader because of his mentality and mindset. He gives his best everyday on and off the field. Ronaldo is a great leader to me because he leads by example and show to his team that hard work pays off due to his big successes in soccer. I think it is amazing to have a teammate like him, he shows a great example to everyone and demonstrates what excellence is in this sport. In this video, we can see the pain that Ronaldo was feeling during the final of the Euro. He had to leave the field due to an injury, he was in tears but then, he never stopped cheering for his teammates from the touchline. He played a big role that day even though he was not able to play, which is very motivating to me to see that and it shows his great leadership.

For this assignment, I chose to write about the leadership of the well-accomplished Patty Gasso. Patty Gasso is the head softball coach at Oklahoma University and has advanced to the Women’s College World Series fourteen times and won the national championship seven times. Her winning percentage ranks the highest of Division I college softball coaches with at least 1,000 career wins. One of her main goals while coaching was to create a competitive team and learn how to build from the ground up. I admire a leader who recognizes when a team is in need of growth and does not automatically expect success. As a leader, she encouraged her athletes to not take no for an answer and to continue to push through the hardships. I admire this quality about Coach Gasso because the game of softball is a game of failure. You are constantly failing more than you are succeeding and it is important to have a tenacious spirit. One of the other things that makes her teams so successful is the culture of faith. Patty Gasso emphasizes the importance of having a relationship with the Lord and how to glorify Him while playing. This has allowed her teams to bond on a whole other level and be able to be successful. She is not only shaping these females to be top athletes but to also be steady women in Christ. I chose this video because it shows what Coach Gasso values and how it has left a lasting impact on her athletes.

  • Britton Young

Howdy, My name is Britton Young. My leader is Tom Brady. He has 5 strong qualities of being a leader. This first quality is he’s patient. He was buried in the depth chart in college. He worked hard and waited his turn until it was him time play. Patience is a very important aspect to being a leader. The second quality he has is he is confident. He knows what he is talking about and is confident that he knows what he is talking about. The third quality is he is determined. Tom does not stop working until he achieves the goals he strives for. Like the example I said for his first quality, when he was striving to be a starting quarterback at Michigan. The fourth quality is selflessness. Tom actually took pay cuts and less money so that he can have a better team around him. He thought less of himself and more about bettering the people around him. The final quality is loyalty. For most of his career he stayed on one team. He stayed on the Patriots to turn them into a dynasty instead of leaving for more money somewhere else.

  • Ethan Kuhn

Howdy my name is Ethan Kuhn. I chose Eli Manning, the former NFL quarterback for the New York Giants. Eli decided from early on he was going to be a leader in his own way. He stuck with the Giants his entire career leading them to two Super Bowl wins. He was the only quarterback to beat Tom Brady twice in the Super Bowl. Eli was such a dedicated and devoted leader that through 210 consecutive games he never missed one. He was struck with injuries illnesses. When the Giants decided to draft Daniel Jones in the first round, Eli still kept doing what always did. Eli even took Daniel under his wing to be the best mentor and teammate.

  • Cameron Layton

Howdy, my name is Cameron Layton. The person that I chose is Kobe Bryant. The reason that I chose Kobe is because he was a relentless leader that did whatever it took take make sure his team was going to win. I’ve watched many documentaries that went over Kobe’s life and career. Kobe was one of those guys that couldn’t be compared to when it came to winners mentality. His mentality is what won him 5 championships in his career. I didn’t watch much basketball at a young age but from the time I can remember it was always Kobe. From children shooting paper balls into a trash can yelling Kobe to older kids shooting a fade-away like him. Kobe was an inspiration to all that were there in his era. The link that I attached is about what all he went through during his career. He was put through so many things at a young age that it changed the way he thought about everything when it came to basketball.

  • Jace McCurry

I am choosing NBA player Dirk Nowitzki as my leader. I am choosing Dirk because more than anyone Dirk is an example of loyalty. I think Loyalty is one of the most important aspects of leadership. Dirk played all 21 years of his NBA career with the Dallas Mavericks because he was committed to getting them a championship. He did not want to leave and win somewhere else. He was committed to winning in Dallas and he eventually did. Dirk was also a model teammate with immense respect for everyone he played with. Dirk also took payouts so other players could get paid and the Mavericks could build a good team around him. Coming from Europe at a time when European players were somewhat disrespected, Dirk paved the way for future European players and earned respect for what he did throughout his long career. These are just a few of the great things Dirk did as a leader, and the reason I picked Dirk as a model leader. The video posted below is not Dirk giving a leadership speech or anything like that. Dirk lead mainly through example by his work ethic, loyalty, and ability to connect with teammates. The video below shows coach Doc Rivers honoring Dirk in an away game at the end of his career, and this shows how much respect Dirk has earned from peers and opponents throughout his great career. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGHU_FmDN38

I chose Michael Jordan as my leader and not just because he’s my favorite basketball player. I picked him because he has a standard for what he does and for the ones who want to compete beside him. We talked about having a bar at baseball all of the time, and I look at things that Jordan says and does into action. We play to a standard, not a scoreboard and to me, that is how Jordan played every game and every moment was the same to him, and he played full effort all of the time. By him doing that it has the trickling effect down throughout the team and the league.

  • Taylor Foeh

    https://youtu.be/W1HR6ScgjZk?si=nUWMQgpm-xpSA0Ax
Howdy! My name is Taylor Foeh and the leader I find motivating, I chose Tim Duncan. Some people may not agree with me, but I think that is what comes with being a great leader, you’re not gonna please everyone, but you also can’t let that affect you. Duncan faced many struggles in his personal life with his family along with the adversity he faced from the public in regards to his basketball career. Duncan was mentally tough and knew what it would take to push through any adversity and he did it with confidence and strength. As his career progressed and time went on, Duncan was never one to give in to the negative talk or even his age. Duncan would persist and live in the moment. Duncan stated : “I’m not going to name one thing I appreciate the most, I enjoyed the journey.” He goes on to talk about understanding how present you have to be and says “I’m going to appreciate this game tonight, appreciate this moment tonight”. He takes pride in living in the now and appreciating the journey. Many people deemed him as the Most Boring Superstar in NBA History. But this didn’t stop him from staying true to his character. Duncan was never crowded with fans and support, leaving him misunderstood by the fans, but never his teammates or his competitors. The people that knew him the best, his teammates were the people that spoke so highly of him and understood his leadership. Teammate, Tony Parker said “he makes everyone around him better and that’s the definition of a superstar”. Duncan lead by example and that is clear by his actions and the words spoken about him from his teammates and Head Coach of The Spurs, Greg Popovich.

  • Trevor Neely

Howdy, my name is Trevor Neely. I chose Nick Saban as the leader that I will be listing. Nick Saban has arguably the most decorated resume in the history of college football and maybe even college sports. He is a fiery leader that expects perfection from his team no matter the opponent. On top of being a fierce competitor, Saban is always willing to stand by his players, no matter the circumstance. In the video linked below, Saban discusses Muhsin Muhammed, a player that he coached during his time as head coach at Michigan State University. Muhsin got into some trouble as a young college athlete and many people around the university and who worked in media expected Saban to dismiss Muhsin from the team. Instead of doing that, Saban gave him a second chance in exchange for punishment. Muhsin went on to have a successful 14 season career in the NFL and is now the CEO of Axum, a private equity firm in Charlotte, North Carolina. Saban’s point in the video was that a lot of people are too quick to give up on the younger generation. He believes that we should be willing to give second chances when it is appropiate to do so. There were so many people who had no connection to Muhsin that wanted to see his life turned upside down. If Saban had kicked Muhsin off the team, there is no telling how his life would have turned out. I have always had the upmost respect for Nick Saban, but the day I saw this video, I knew that he was someone that I would always try to emulate when it came to being a leader.

    https://youtu.be/EOweu6HF0zI?si=u-ElNUDwkSGtEZKM

The video clip I chose is from Nick Saban discussing accountability . Nick Saban will go down as one of the most prolific coaches in our history. Nick Saban is known for his hard nosed style of structure and discipline, which is something I really respect. In the video he discusses how important accountability is. Coach Saban stated players make the decisive decision to commit curtain acts. Making them have accountability helps make them make more conscious decisions. Because your actions have consequences, like penalties and other thing. He stated that you need to be able to control your emotions while playing or in stressful situations. Saban illustrates how accountability was instilled into him by his father when he was younger. He says that it comes down to doing all the small things right.

  • James Cochran

Howdy, my name is James Cochran. I chose Zdeno Chara who is a former captain of the Boston Bruins. https://youtu.be/dHNwjlFeTUE?si=gFWxk4bUD-Oy8z6D He was a 6’9” player from Slovakia who was told to play basketball his whole life although he had a passion for hockey. He made his way up and through battling adversity he became captain of a Stanley cup winning NHL team. His English may be weak but his leadership skills are strong.

  • Madison Rather

Howdy! My name is Madison Rather and someone who I think is a great leader is Simone Biles. With her experience in gymnastics, specifically with team USA, she has always seemed to be the face of the organization and for a good reason. She always keeps it real and is her genuine, true self. An example of this was when she dropped out of the Olympics because of her mental health. You do not see many professional athletes talk too much about their mental health, but Simone Biles let the world know the reality of what it is like to be expected to be perfect all of the time. She became vulnerable and open in which inspired other athletes to do the same. While she left her team at the Olympics, she gave her teammates everything they needed to be successful such as support, motivation, and inspiration. Sometimes when a leader leaves suddenly, it can shock the team and sometimes it can be hard for teams to come back from that in such short notice, but when Simone left, Team USA was prepared and never let up and I think one reason why was because Simon was such a great leader on that team that she made her teammates leaders as well. Two years later and now she is back and continuing to win gymnastic competitions at the national level. Something special about leaders is that when they get knocked down, they get back up again and that is exactly what Simone did.

  • Dalton Collinsworth

Howdy! My name is Dalton Collinsworth and I chose Dak Prescott who is the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. He graduated from Mississippi State with a bachelor’s in educational psychology and then a master’s in workforce leadership which shows the intelligence and initiative that he possesses to become a great leader. Ever since he joined the Cowboys and was named starting quarterback, he has shown those skills. As Dak mentioned in the video, he always tries to do a reflection over himself and his team to make sure that he is in a good mental state in order to keep the team going. Even when you go behind the scenes when he is not leading the Cowboys, he is doing charitable work and trying to help others in need which led him recently to receive the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award. He also been known to be an excellent communicator and values and strengthens relationships with the people around him. On the team, he talks with the Cowboys mental conditioning consultant about human nature. He has gone through a lot of adversity within a few years and he has taken on those challenges with a lot of strength and persistence. Whether it be him living off in a trailer park in Louisiana, his mother dying of cancer in 2013, his brother committing suicide in 2020, to his rough ankle injury a few months later after that, he has shown consistency with battling that adversity in trying to become better. Many teammates have told stories of how selfless he is like him inviting the team over for a barbecue, offering teammates help outside of football, doing pre-game warmups even when the starters were benched for a preseason game. All of these things has proven Dak Prescott to be an excellent leader whether he is on or off the field.

  • Tyler Burg

    https://legacycultures.com/drewbrees/
I’m Tyler Burg and the leader I have selected is Drew Brees for the qualities he displays on and off the field. In this clip Brees gives a pre-game speech to his team on what it takes to be successful and the values of working as a team. Being around selfless and self-motivated players who have a common end goal in mind for not only himself but the team as well, is a player you want in the locker room. Brees leadership style is courageous and out-going and is always willing to sacrifice for the greater good for his organization. The reason Brees and his team is so successful s because they work well together as a team and have driven players who are willing to work hard for the person next to them, and that is the affect Brees has on a his teams influence and style of play. Howdy! My name is Sophia Martinez and one individual I believe to be one of the greatest, most influential and effective leader is Tim Duncan. Not only was Tim Duncan a humble person all around but when it came to the game of basketball he led his team towards success. He motivated his team with visions he had of success and as a player with few words he made sure to reflect that through his actions and how he played the game of professional basketball. There are 5 key principles that Tim Duncan taught about leadership: Lead from Shadows, Stay Patient and Flexible, Deal with Imperfection, Pursue Consistency, and Age and Adapt. Duncan was truly a special person and player that never once failed to show up and work 110% along with pushing his teammates to the best of their ability, motivating them and making them stronger mentally and physically as professional athletes. His leadership style was very effective throughout his entire career and that is what made him a likable person and athlete. He is a very passionate person that leads by example and his love for his teammates and the game of basketball was very obvious to all. Duncans work ethic on and off the court was impeccable.
