Nick Saban is arguably the most outstanding college coach ever to do it. Some may claim he failed in the NFL, while others found success and, therefore, is behind them. However, no one can debate his success at LSU or Alabama. This clip shows a glimpse of the man behind the coach. Stating he told all his teams this at the beginning of the season, Saban begins from day one with expectations and is open with the young men around him that this is not easy, which is why it is worth doing. Perhaps his most underrated leadership quality is to expect excellence in the great times while still being able to coach and focus on improving during the bad. Few coaches are easier to play for when down 21+, yet Saban mastered the art, and in turn, all his players found ways to bounce back after poor performances, resulting in the dynasty he led. Having retired this past year and joining the college game day show, we could see firsthand the impact his expertise provides from the new perspective on the panel to the spike in rating from his presence alone. Saban is not yet done with the sport world; even still, the Crimson TIde very well could have lost a man with shoes too large to simply replace.

Simone Biles is a strong leader for women in sports. I believe her vulnerability is what stands out to me as her strongest leadership quality. Simone has not been afraid to share her struggles with ‘the twisties’ and how it affected her physically and mentally. She has shown countless times her strength to overcome adversity after leaving the 2020 Tokyo Olympics for her own safety. A leader is supposed to know themself and she has the self-awareness to know her limits. She has openly experienced her disappointment in herself at the Olympics and how she flipped her mindset so she could be a leader and not affect morale. A true leader puts the team before themself and well her personal goals were not met she did not fail to keep her teammates spirits high. Another quality that stands out to me is her passion for the sport. She is extremely spirited about competing and she continues to prove that when competing by pushing barriers for young girls and creating these new flips. Simone Biles has shown her mentorship towards young girls participating in camps, sharing her insights, and experiences. She leads by example by practicing what she preaches and showing resilience. A unique part of her success was the documentary she did with Netflix where she shared her experiences on a global platform. This is an example of how she used her success to share her passion, be herself, and stay committed to her sport. Simone Biles has stated she is not sure if she will retire or compete in the 2028 Olympic games because they are in the U.S but her time in the sport industry is not finished as she hopes to continue to share her knowledge of the sport to young girls.

Howdy my name is Cash McIntyre and for my leader, I picked the undisputed greatest athlete ever to play the game of football, Tom Brady. Tom Brady possesses almost every leadership quality that makes a great leader, but one stands out the most after watching this clip of Tom’s best mic ’d-up moments. Tom Brady is someone who uses his communication on and off the field to give him the ability to motivate others, keep others accountable, and be a better leader overall. Communication is a pivotal skill that a leader must possess, and Tom has mastered it. His ability to communicate with others helps build relationships with his teammates, allowing him to have a leadership role and be the guy that people gravitate toward. Tom Brady has undoubtedly built relationships through effective communication, which has made him a leader among his teammates. Specifically, in this clip, Tom uses effective communication to motivate his teammates to keep persistent during games, give pregame speeches to motivate others, guide the entire offense down the field by calling plays, talk to coaches, and cheer for his teammates, all of these examples are ways that Tom uses his voice to be an effective leader that is able to be a role model for the team and be someone that I others can trust and rely on while on and off the field. Tom is not only the goat when it comes to the game of football but also the goat of being a communicator and, more importantly, a leader.

  • Chase Cross

Chase Cross https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxd_VaL7saA Dan Campbell starts out his speech by saying, “What are we? What makes us what we are and what we're gonna be?” I absolutely love that Dan Campbell is starting out a speech about grit like this. To lead a team you must know who your team is and your team needs to know who they are in order to get to a position to where they can attain their goal. He tells his team that they will be based on grit. That they’ll go a little harder, faster, longer, and better than their competitors to become successful. Dan Campbell is a great example of a leader who talks the talk and walks the walk. He has said many times before that he loves his players and wants nothing but success for them. You can tell that he cares and believes in the philosophy that he implements for the Detroit Lions. And despite the loss yesterday it has been working, another reason he is an effective leader is that he gets results. Dan Campbell encourages his players just to keep working. Even though he gets results hes not forced on them, he is focused on the process it takes to get there.

  • Isabelle Aranas

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uZq3Km7BnA I chose this video featuring Pat Summitt because it highlights her exceptional leadership qualities that transcend the realm of sports. As the head coach of the University of Tennessee's women's basketball team, Summitt achieved a remarkable win-loss record of 946-180, making her the winningest coach in college basketball history at the time. Beyond her impressive statistics, she was renowned for her unwavering commitment to her players' academic and personal development, ensuring that every athlete who completed their eligibility under her guidance graduated with a diploma.
In the video, Summitt emphasizes the importance of discipline, hard work, and respect—principles she encapsulated in her "Definite Dozen" rules for success. Her ability to instill these values in her players not only led to on-court success but also prepared them for challenges beyond basketball. Summitt's transparent communication style and her insistence on accountability fostered a culture of trust and excellence within her team.
What makes Pat Summitt an effective leader is her holistic approach to coaching, where she balanced high expectations with genuine care for her players' well-being. Her leadership legacy serves as an inspiration, demonstrating that true leadership involves guiding others to achieve their fullest potential both professionally and personally.

One of my favorite leaders to listen to is Inky Johnson. Inky Johnson, a safety at the University of Tennessee, had a career-ending injury that completely changed his life. I resonate with him because of his Christian beliefs and understanding of purpose in life. For my clip, I chose his message on overcoming adversity. In this clip, he talks about how he went from being a predicted 1st round pick in the NFL to being paralyzed in his right arm. His resilience throughout his life has made him an effective leader. His authenticity and vulnerability with others lead others to appreciate his messages better. Lastly, he can also resonate and encourage others making him an effective leader. I, along with many others can agree that Inky Johnson is a motivating speaker and leader. Not only does he inspire athletes, but he works closely with underprivileged youth who are in need of financial and physical assistance.

  • Jessica McBrayer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6TagD0_pLQ RC Slocum is a leader that comes to my mind, especially when considering Texas A&M. Coach Slocum became a legend at Texas A&M for his remarkable coaching achievements and outstanding leadership and influence off the field. Over his 53-year legacy, Slocum worked his way up from defensive coordinator to head coach, demonstrating his commitment and loyalty to his job. His impressive record of 123-47 and four conference championships during his 14 years as head coach is a testament to his coaching expertise and ability to lead a successful program. However, what truly sets Slocum apart is his deep care for his players' futures. He advocated for their academic success, encouraging many to graduate and pursue higher education, especially considering that most of his players came from disadvantaged backgrounds. His leadership extended beyond football, teaching valuable life lessons on perseverance, respect, and determination. Slocum showed that anyone could achieve greatness through hard work, regardless of their starting point, as long as they maintain self-respect and respect for others. His legacy inspires those who strive to lead with integrity and heart.

John Wooden is hailed as the greatest Men's College Basketball coach of all time due to his legendary career as a coach at UCLA. At UCLA Wooden won 10 National Championships (7 consecutive titles), 6 NCAA Coach of the Year awards, 20 Pac-10 Championships, 4 perfect seasons, and a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame. I chose this specific video of Coach Wooden talking about success and how you are the only person who can truly define success in your life. Wooden explained that you will never find peace and happiness if you live under society's version of success. Only you have the potential to be the best person you can be. Only you can be successful when you have peace of mind by knowing you put your best efforts in whatever you do. Coach Wooden was able to generate his success by being a leader, teacher, and coach at the same time. Coach Wooden was not only a legendary coach, but he was also a teacher to everyone leaving a lasting impact on all his players. He saw the potential in everyone and used his wisdom, beliefs, and teachings to bring out the best in everyone around him. John Wooden's legacy extends much further than a Hall of Fame Coach. He is an inspirational leader who served everyone with compassion and developed people into their best versions.

  • Danielle Equale

Danielle Equale https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvbBIxwZusw The first person to come to mind when I heard about this assignment was Alex Morgan. She has always been an inspiration to me as I also grew up playing soccer, so she was the individual I felt most connected with at a young age. Over the years, Morgan's determination and the way she led the Women's US National team had a large impact on me. She is an impactful leader not only on the field through her communication style and giving it her all, but also off the field. I chose this clip of Alex Morgan because this is the day after she decided to end her soccer career. She explains her love for the sport, but also her family and kids and how she gives back to the community of women's athletics. Now, she is still an individual I look up to for motivation because in every part of her life, she always gives it her all. She is an amazing mother, who can balance family life and her career, while also starting up her own foundation to support women's athletics. Alex Morgan has become a monumental leader to all women and young girls around the world, showing us that we can do anything we put our minds to.

One of my favorite examples of an inspiring leader is the leadership Jalen Hurts displayed in the 2018 National Championship Game. Hurts was benched at halftime due to poor play, and Tua Tagovailoa took his place. This was controversial at the time because Hurts was the starter for Alabama over the last two seasons, and many eyes were on him to watch as he handled it. Hurts could have just sat on the sideline feeling sorry for himself, but instead he encouraged and coached Tua through the second half. Alabama came back to win the game, and I do believe that Hurts' leadership played a role in the comeback. That second half was likely the most difficult of Hurts' football career to that point, but he made the decision to put the team first and he ended up enjoying the rewards of that. I chose this postgame clip because it shows how important Hurts' team-first attitude was toward his team reaching their goal. This was inspirational to me because at that time I was playing football in middle school, and I knew that there was a possibility that I could be placed in a similar situation down the line. It is cool to see how far Jalen Hurts has come since this moment, as he has developed himself into a decent NFL franchise quarterback. Hardly anybody thought that was a possibility seven years ago, but it is evident that his hard work and strong leadership got him to where he is now.

  • Jacob Ferrari

One of my favorite athletes of all time and my favorite Houston Texan of all time JJ Watt is the athlete I selected for this assignment. One of the leadership themes that were discussed in class that match JJ Watt perfectly was and still is his ability to build togetherness in the city of Houston. In 2017, Houston and all of SE Texas suffered from the devastating loss and impacts from Hurricane Harvey. JJ Watt was one of the first people to try to find a way to help out his city and community following the storm. He used his platform & his charity foundation (The JJ Watt Foundation) to raise money for those who lost everything. He was hoping at the initial stage to reach a goal of one million dollars, by the end of the first day of his fundraising, he reached half a million dollars in donations. When he ended the fundraising, he had reached over $41M in donations and this included donations from people all over the world, companies, celebrities, and other athletes. He would spend his time off the field when not playing for the Texans helping those rebuild in the Houston community. But following a broken leg he suffered vs the Kansas City Chiefs in October 2017, he could only oversee his relief efforts from a distance while he recovered. At the conclusion of the 2017-2018 season, Watt ended up receiving the Walter Payton Man of the Year award for his humanitarian work in the Houston area. This shows how he can build togetherness to people that have lost everything to come together to help each other build back stronger than they were before and that has been the case in the Houston area.

  • Alyssa Novia

My name is Alyssa Novia, and an effective leader that I find motivating is Tom Brady. The main thing he does is build trust with his teammates. Having played in many championship games, he has always kept a calm demeanor, staying composed shows that he has confidence in his teammates. He is not afraid to tell it how it is; he will communicate clearly with his teammates to compliment or criticize. He pushed his teammates to the best of their ability, even if that made them uncomfortable. While also being able to adapt to new changes and hold himself accountable. He had led by example, showing his work ethic and preparation for games, which made him consistent and reliable. By doing this he achieves the trust of his teammates and that builds the team culture which makes the team successful.

  • Warren Palmer

My name is Warren Palmer, and the leader I chose is Kobe Bryant. He had an extremely successfull NBA career, thanks to his leadership and mindset. One of the things in the video that stuck out to me was when Kobe said "If you are gonna be a leader, you are not going to please everybody." He also says that being a leader requires not being a feraid of confrontation. In order to keep your team accountable for success, you must have tough conversations, and invite disagreements. Tough love is required for success in almost every team setting, sport related or not. Leaders must be able to hold people accountable but still maintain good relationships. These reasons are why I chose Kobe Bryant as one of my favorite leadership examples. Kobe Bryant

The leader I chose is Russell Westbrook. Russ has always carried himself in the highest regard and makes sure to hold his teammates accountable for their actions on and off the court. He is a phenomenal role model for young kids because he is always giving back to the community. Although he has been moving around the NBA, his leadership and mentorship never wavers. He keeps his energy high and stays positive no matter the situation. In this video, specifically, he is talking about being a voice for the young players on the Denver Nuggets and how he loves to see them grow and fight through adversity, something he has had to deal with throughout his entire life. Coming from the streets of LA, Russ had a lot of bad influences, but he never let it lead him astray from his goals and that is something he tries to teach young people. Me personally, Russ is my favorite player of all time because of the energy he brings night in and night out, in addition to his leadership, grit, and passion. These qualities are just some needed to be an effective leader for the people around.

  • Hannah Everett

The leader I chose to speak about is Marcus Freeman, the head coach of the football team at Notre Dame. I chose this clip because Marcus speaks about the leadership culture within his team that ultimately ended up getting them all the way to the college football championship. In this video, Marcus talks about how his captains have displayed leadership by adopting a mindset of moving forward. Marcus speaks about the importance of continuing forward even when there is a setback or a situation that threatens to shake you. He also mentions how leadership culture is revealed in the toughest moments when things do not go your way. I believe that a distinct quality of leadership is resilience, which Marcus shows in this clip. In contrast to failure, Marcus talks about leadership amid success and the attention that Notre Dame was receiving after their wins. He speaks about the importance of putting your focus and attention on improving and preparing for the opportunity ahead of you, rather than basking in the compliments of others for past victories.

  • Natalia Austin

My name is Natalia Austin, and the leader i chose is Tim Duncan. Duncan is known for his time at the San Antonio Spurs where he has won 5 championships. In this video you will learn about his stance and importance on the Spurs. Duncan is known to be a leader for many athletes that have played along side him. He is explained to be a selfless leader. He will coach his teammates but also give them room to grow. Duncan was recognized as a special part of basketball early on when he was brought to the Spurs in 1997. He was dedicated to making his whole team better, not just himself. The selflessness Duncan demonstrated was a big reason for their success. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-STgy2pCxxs

  • Samuel Pedraza

https://youtu.be/wSOOr4Qmu4U?si=o5UCvvdNWdldayJ9 My name is Samuel Pedraza and the leader I chose was Kobe Bryant. Kobe Bryant had a very successful NBA career, widely being regarded as a top 5 shooting guard of all time, and is one of the most perfect examples to me on what it means to be a leader. Through the likes of his “Mamba Mentality” and attitude, Kobe was always able to be a great leader pushing his teammates to be the best. Although this speech is only around 30 seconds long, I believe the thoughts he shared are very powerful. Ever since I first heard this speech a quote from Kobe has always stuck with me and will always stay with me. Kobe says, "The lesson I cherish the most is how important it is to love what you do. If you love what you do and it’s making you happy, all the hard work and perseverance will pay off”. This speaks to me when I am struggling to keep going, studying, and continuing to do my assignments that I love sports, and I was the one who chose this career path as I genuinely love where I am in life. Kobe says, “When you know you’re truly giving it your all, there’s no greater feeling in the world”. This serves as a reminder in any and everything you do; leaders should give it their all as leaders go that extra mile to achieve their goals. If it was easy, everyone would do it.

  • Jaxon Baumbach

My name is Jaxon Baumbach and the leader I chose John Cena as my leader. Even though Cena may seem like a big buff guy who puts on WWE stunts for people, he has done so much more. Cena stands as an icon for many kids with his giving and leadership qualities. He has done something no other athlete or person has ever done and given out over 650 Make-A-Wish opportunities to kids in dire need. He is a selfless individual and has used his fame to help others. John Cena explains how he important it is for kids to look at him and be able to use their wish on him and he values that deeply. He never takes it for granted and always wants to give people hope. He explains how the hope he gives can move mountains and his effect can really make a difference. https://youtu.be/QMCufr9FvUc

  • Jamesen Harvey

My name is Jamesen Harvey, and I choose our head baseball coach Micheal Early as a leader I find motivating. From stepping up to head coach of Aggie Baseball this past summer, there isn't anything about Coach Early's character that doesn't scream leader. After coming in second place at the College World Seres this past year, the Aggie baseball team had some unforeseen circumstances regarding the previous coach, Jim Schlossnagle. Texas A&M is a school where loyalty runs deep, and Mike Early proved just that not only stepping up as head coach, but bringing the players back with him as well. He exemplifies strong leadership through his ability to inspire, motivate, and develop both his players and now new coaching staff. His focus on individual growth, along with a strong team mentality, helps players develop discipline, resilience, and accountability. By leading with integrity, passion, and a clear vision, Coach Early not only drives the success of the Aggie Baseball program but also prepares his athletes for success beyond the field. Under his leadership, the Aggies have consistently been a competitive force in the SEC, one of the most challenging conferences in college baseball. In 2022 and 2024, Early's leadership truly shined when he led the Aggies to an impressive run in the College World Series.

  • Ashley Singley

Hi! My name is Ashley Singley, and the inspiring leader that I chose is Tim Tebow. As an athlete, he inspired so many by the nature of his bold faith and authentic kindness. He truly embodies the actions that Jesus called Christians to as believers. During his interview with another inspiring leader, Craig Groeschel, Tebow advocates on behalf of integrity and respect. He emphasized the importance of leaders doing what is right rather than what will make them “liked.” Through his leadership, Tebow has never conformed to the aspects of society that will make him most likable to others. Instead, he has earned respect and amplified the impact of his message by empowering, motivating, and connecting with those around him. Lastly, Tebow used his unique platform as an athlete to make an impact only HE had the power to make. He stood confidently in his uniqueness and stayed true to his values despite extenuating circumstances. Somehow, even in the competitive and cut-throat nature of a Florida football game, Tebow still found a way to inspire others to be more like Jesus. For these reasons and more, Tim Tebow continues to be an inspiring role model and leader for others to follow! Tim Tebow

When I started thinking of leaders something that stuck out to me was how successful Jimmy Johnson was at both the collegiate and professional level. There are not many who can effectively make the jump from college to the pros but Jimmy Johnson was one of those men. I believe this was because of the clear vision he instilled in his players and the relationships he formed with them. Johnson always preached having a strong work ethic and held both himself and his players to high standards. When you hold yourself to the same expectations as your players I think that creates a sense of trust and belief in a team and that is just what Johnson was known for as a coach. During his career, he quickly turned the Cowboys around from being a losing team to a winning team with a winning culture. He took over a 1-15 team and in 4 years turned them into back-to-back Super Bowl winners by instilling the culture and belief in each other I mentioned earlier.

  • Joaquin Espinoza

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkSHSwJVv_8
My name is Joaquin Espinoza. the effective leader that I have decided to choose is Sam Sulek. Sam Is a bodybuilder who shares videos of him working out every day. The reason why I chose Sam is that he has influenced millions of people in the past two years to "Get after it". Not only in the gym but in life. At the beginning of every video he posts online, Sam has one-on-one talks with the camera where he is authentic and relatable. Sam embodies many characteristics that make him an effective leader. His Strong work ethic inspires others to adopt a similar work ethic. Sam's passion and enthusiasm for bodybuilding and self-improvement are contagious and motivate others to take action in their own lives. Overall Sam Sulek is a great leader and has led many people to want to get in better shape and improve their lives.

  • Megan Pfeiler

    https://youtu.be/2g-vLmVxP9Q?si=9KOcDLcGk04TKveD

Howdy, my name is Megan Pfeiler and the leader I picked is Leigh Anne Tuohy from the movie, The Blind Side. I chose this clip because it shows a great example of Leigh Anne Tuohy stepping up and motivating Michael. She empowers him by teaching him how to recognize his strengths and weaknesses and act on them. For instance, in this clip, she explains to Michael his natural instinct for protecting others and then translates this instinct into skills he can use as an offensive lineman. Furthermore, from the beginning, she shows great leadership characteristics by stepping up and taking Michael in as her own. She ignores biases from her friends and family and gives him a place in her home. She shows that leadership starts with empathy. Throughout the whole movie, she has determination to help Michael, even through many challenges.

  • Jackson Warden

    https://youtu.be/TPbm3YZpU6Q?si=GHgTyR8OcHTnOvYv
Howdy, my name is Jackson Warden and I am a senior SPMT major here at Texas A&M. I chose this speech from Arnold Schwarzenegger titled "VISION" for several reasons. While Arnold was a bodybuilder, which is a solo endeavor and does not require leading a team, I believe that what he talks about in this speech is extremely applicable to leadership. Arnold was extremely successful throughout his bodybuilding career and became a movie star and even the governor of California, which requires a great deal of leadership. His first piece of advice for reaching success is to have a vision. Funny enough, the first point about leadership that we learned in Dr. LaSota's class is that to be a leader, you must have a vision. I've heard more and more about the importance of having a vision, and I am implementing this technique into my current leadership roles. Arnold also motivates me throughout this video because of his anecdotes of hard work. I have always been a firm believer in the power of hard work, which was taught to me through my time in sports and is something I still apply to my life to this day.

  • Nick Hernandez

    https://youtu.be/OY5ZDk4FSnY?si=LE9qkpfwOjn-C6Rg
My name is Nick Hernandez. The effective leader I have decided to choose is none other than the co-CEO of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), Paul Rabil. Paul Rabil has solidified himself as one of the most influential members of the lacrosse community. During Rabil’s time as an athlete, he was a collegiate national champion in 2008, was a two-time Major League Lacrosse (MLL) champion, and two-time team USA world lacrosse champion. By 2015 Rabil was named the greatest lacrosse player on Earth and was the face of the game. Rabil’s dedication and love for the game truly showed when he wanted to create a league that benefitted the players and cared for the fans. Rabil and his brother became the co-founders of the Premier Lacrosse League in 2018, growing the lacrosse game and eventually putting it on a higher pedestal. Since Rabil’s inauguration of the league, viewership of lacrosse has expanded to national television broadcast channels such as ABC and NBC while also becoming the fastest-growing sport in the past six years. With the PLL’s success, the game has also grown to city-based teams from the east to west coast and more recently the Women’s Lacrosse League (WLL). Rabil has shown leadership by stepping up as an athlete to grow the game he admires and potentially grow the game for more generations to come. Without his ability to step up and act as a leader, the game of lacrosse could potentially be forgotten and irrelevant in this generation.

  • Coy Embry

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyKNsoEEpI0 Howdy, my name is Coy Embry. The effective leader I have chosen is Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis. Ray Lewis is considered one of the best linebackers in NFL history, not just because of his skills, but because of his leadership. During his 17 years with the Baltimore Ravens, he was the team’s emotional leader, driving them with his energy and passion. His powerful speeches before games, hard work, and ability to make big plays in key moments were key to the Ravens' success, including their Super Bowl wins. Lewis led by example, showing his teammates how to play with heart and determination. He also helped younger players grow both on and off the field. His leadership was felt in the locker room and on the field, making a lasting impact on the team. Ray Lewis will always be remembered not only for his talent but also for how he inspired and guided those around him.

Lessons From A Leader – Phil Jackson https://youtu.be/rtk4B3Q9FuM?si=iPkO-HQbo28GxgJn Howdy! I am Francisco Sumaya, III. The effective leader that I chose was Phil Jackson. Phil Jackson is a former NBA coach. The reason I chose Phil Jackson is because I enjoy playing basketball. His leadership style emphasized the power of team cohesion. He created a culture where egos were secondary to the goal. He encouraged players to stay present, manage their emotions, and support one another. His mindset helped his teams, the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers, to win 11 NBA championships. Another key lesson was relaying the importance of trust and empowerment. This allowed the team to build confidence and to take ownership of their responsibility. Additionally, Jackson demonstrated the importance of leading by example. He was calm during high pressure situations. This allowed the players to maintain focus and composure. Characteristics included leading from the inside out (authentic), team before ego, and to be compassionate.
He quoted: “In basketball—as in life—true joy comes from being fully present in each and every moment, not just when things are going your way.”

  • nicholas kern

The leader I chose was Demeco Ryans. He is the Head coach of the Houston Texans while also being a former player for them and the Philadelphia Eagles. Demeco is such a great leader because of the passion he has. When The big plays happen, he is celebrating just as much as the players out on the field. He also uses his experiences as a player to ep coach talent. In the Browns wild card game, he was able to give specific instructions to Christian Harris, a Linebacker on the team, which ultimately created the opportunity for a pick six. This type of in game knowledge gives Ryans the advantage to coach these young players who can lean on his experiences to help themselves. In this video, Ryans shows his leadership skills just by the way he addresses all aspects of the game, giving credit to all. He is one of the best leaders in the game today and success will surely come if he's at the forefront of the Texans for years to come.

  • Tyler Triola

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olPLvuvMcSE Howdy My name is Tyler Triola and the leader I chose is Ted Lasso from the TV Show Ted Lasso. If you are unfamiliar with the show a quick summary it is about Ted Lasso a former American football coach who gets hired by a professional futbal club in England. Ted as a character radiates positivity even threw his hardships in life and I chose him as a leader because of how his positive mindset can impact everyone around him. He is an amazing leader because with wins and losses it does not change him and it reflects on his team. He sees the best in everyone and tries to help everyone be the best possible person which is what I think the great leaders do is find the best in everyone and elevate that. He does not allow anyone to be alone and truly cares. He does though his mindset and passion and is not afraid to show emotion and it impacts everyone he is near and he is a great leader all in all.

  • Dylan O’Connell

Howdy, my name is Dylan O'Connell and the leader I chose was Dan Campbell of the Detroit Lions. The video I chose was of his introductory press conference in 2021 when he was named head coach. The reason I am drawn to this video and inspired from it is it just feels so real and authentic, which alot of coaches are not in press conference. Campbell even goes as far to say in his own press confrence "I'm not gonna give you coach speak. None of it matters and none of you wanna hear it anyway." It was honestly a breath of fresh air on the podium, and the on the field results showed it too. The Lions are coming off back to back NFC North crowns after not ever winning the division before. This all started, though, with Campbell setting the tone in his introductory press conference. His analogy of "biting your kneecaps off" was made into countless T-shirts in the Detroit community. I am very excited what a great coach Campbell will continue to be as he represents the best of us Aggies.

  • Will Fisher

Howdy, my name is Will Fisher and the leader I chose is Gregg Popovich. Coach Pop is one of the greatest basketball coaches ever. He has five championships and made the playoffs 22 consecutive times. However, he is more known for his leadership and coaching style. A lot of people see coach Pop as a mean old man, and while he can be a lot to his players, he coaches them the way they need to be coached. The video that I chose shows that he is not always the yelling and screaming type of coach, but a true players coach. He gives the players the best formula to succeed. Gregg Popovich also instills good team values within the Spurs organization. He is the true originator of the "I have a shot, but you have a better shot" offense. His unselfish coaching style has led to much success and continues to show people why he is one of the greatest coaches and leaders in all of sports. https://youtube.com/shorts/yN9dNBE8_hM?si=gAsoa1IryGNLkteu

  • Ross Fisher

    https://youtu.be/KjYEJ8XSXto?si=NXdIliHCmOaE0Xde
Howdy, my name is Ross Fisher. The leader I chose was Carlos Correa of the Minnesota Twins, former Houston Astro. This video clip is of Carlos Correa and reporter Ken Rosenthal discussing the Astros cheating investigation. I chose this clip because it shows how strong of a leader Carlos Correa is to be able to talk about something that is very difficult and uncomfortable to talk about. When an organization gets caught for cheating and breaking rules, who would want to come out and speak about it? Well, Carlos Correa stepped forward and put the team on his back in an 18 minute interview. He defended his teammates, especially Jose Altuve, and admitted to everything that happened during the 2017 season. As you can see in the clip, Correa is a vocal and charismatic leader. Outside of the clip, he is a captain on the field, in the dugout, and in the locker room. He is known for being a mentor, helping out rookies and building team chemistry. Lastly, on the field he is a clutch performer, being able to deliver when under pressure. These, as well as many other qualities, add to the value Carlos Correa gives to a team.

  • Bryce Jordan

https://youtu.be/DExCsnBLMnQ?feature=shared Howdy, my name is Bryce Jordan and the leader I chose is Steph Curry. Steph Curry is an inspiring leader to me because he shows all the important qualities such as humility, hard work, and a positive attitude. Despite being overlooked early in his career, he worked hard to prove himself, showing that success comes from consistent effort and believing in your skills and abilities. Both on and off the court Steph leads by example, which is motivating because he shows that leadership is about inspiring others through actions. Steph also encourages his teammates to be their best, which creates an environment of mutual respect and trust. Also, his dedication to self-improvement, like perfecting his shooting skills to become one of the greatest players ever, motivates me to strive for greatness. Steph also demonstrates his toughness by bouncing back from injuries and challenges with heart and perseverance. As well as, his strong faith and values inspire me to stay grounded and continue pursuing my goals. Off the court the amount of time he dedicates to philanthropy and using his platform for good shows the importance of giving back to the community. Overall, Steph Curry's leadership style and character motivate me to work hard, remain humble, and lead with purpose in all areas of my life, and this is why he is such a great leader.

  • Stone Farris

My name is Stone Farris and the leader I chose is Tim Tebow. Tim Tebow shows great leadership qualities in many aspects of his life whether on the football field or motivating others. He does a great job at getting others to play as hard as they can or do the best they can. As a Heisman Trophy winner, Tim has accomplished many great feats. However, Tim is a very selfless leader and motivator. In this video, Tim explains what it’s like to grind for something. One of the great leadership qualities Tim has is having a good work ethic. I chose this video because I believe that all leaders and motivators need to be able to work hard. Working hard for something can be a great way of leading by example. With that being said, Tim is somebody I look up to a lot and somebody that I believe exemplifies leadership very well.

  • daniela klein

My name is Daniela Klein and the leader I chose is Chadwick Boseman.

I chose this video of Chadwick Boseman because his words about finding purpose and trusting in God’s plan are insanely powerful and moving. He said, “When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, ‘I used everything you gave me.’” That really hits home because it reminds us that our gifts and talents are meant to be used for something greater. Chadwick lived that truth until his last breath. Despite battling cancer for four years, he still became Black Panther and inspired millions of people. What I find even more inspiring is that he never told the world about his illness, even when people criticized him for being too skinny. He carried his cross silently and trusted God’s purpose for his life. His strength, humility, and faith showed us what it means to live with courage and love. Chadwick’s life reminds us to keep going, to trust God, and to make the most of the time we’re given. I think this is so powerful and shows how God can really move within each of our lives.

  • Deacon Makris

My Name is Deacon Makris the leader I choose was Jose Altuve

I choose this video of Jose Altuve because he enlightens viewers into the journey of playing baseball at the highest level and what it takes to get there. In the video he speaks about trusting in the plan that God has for you and working as hard as you can to follow that plan. As it is known Jose Altuve went to an open international tryout for the Houston Astros and was turned away for being too small. The next day he came back out to the tryout disregarding what the scouts had said. he impressed a scout with the Astros earning himself a contract to play for the organization. "I like to prove people right not wrong. I did it for the people that actually believe in me"- Jose Altuve, this was said when Altuve reached the 10 years of Major League Baseball mark. He credits the people who have helped them along the way uplifting others around himself the way a true leader should.

  • Conner Monroe

Hello, my name is Conner Monroe. I chose this clip of Jameis Winston to demonstrate an effective leader because I think it’s hard to go out and motivate a group of athletes that you may not know too well, and he has been doing it his whole career. Coming out of high school as the number one recruit and being drafted number one overall in the 2015 NFL Draft, he had a lot of pressure on him to be great. Due to his less than stellar performance on the field, Jameis has been on three different teams, and with the clip I chose coming from his first season with his new team, it shows how great of a leader he can be. Motivating a group of guys that he has only been with a couple of months and have also come from many different teams shows how great of a leader he is. With his ecstatic energy and character, he gives a brief pregame speech to his new teammates moments before they take the field. It’s also important to know that this is a pre-season game, so he is most likely talking to teammates who are trying to prove something and make the roster. So as a team leader, Jameis wants what’s best for the team and the right people for the job.

  • Alex Albert

My name is Alex Albert and the leader I chose was Kobe Bryant. Kobe, while not my all time favorite basketball player ever, is one of my favorite leaders in sports history. I think his ability to lead and motivate anybody is incredible. In this clip, he first discussed a great quote that he always lived by, which was “Rest at the end, not in the middle.” Even if you don’t know the answer to every question you have, you just keep pushing through and figure it out on the way. I think this is such an important quote to understand because it’s an uncommon mindset of most of society. Society will tell you that you are able to rest at any time and that’s okay, but Kobe says that he lived by being motivated the entire time he was working towards a goal, and only after he achieved that goal did he rest. Another quote he has said he lived by was “the moment you give up, is the moment you let someone else win” which is similar to the first quote. If you are working towards a goal, specifically one that others may also be trying to achieve, if you stop at all on your progress towards that goal, someone else will get it before you. Kobe is someone I often look up to for leadership and motivation because of how strong willed he was.

  • Kaiden Wilson

Howdy, My Name is Kaiden Wilson. I chose a clip from Terry Mclaurin this past weekend after beating the Detroit Lions. Terry Mclaurin demonstrates as a very effective leader because he shows how much he cares for his team and wants to lead by example for himself and his teammates. he has been one of the most underrated wide receivers in the league for years now because of the Washington Commanders reputation of not being a good team. Terry has been working very hard to be the best and motivating his teammates to be the best. Now, they are in the playoffs playing to win the Super Bowl. Terry's speech has showed how much he cares for his team and just to be yourself. Don't be someone you are not. Being able to trust who you are and being the best version of yourself. Terry says that he has the best job in the world and says we should be grateful to be in the position they are today. Terry also brings up if they did not have the money or fame in this job, all you have is your reputation and your name so play for yourself and the name that is on the back of your jersey. Terry's speech has motivated his team into beating the Detroit Lions 45-31 in the divisional round. After this video, this made me want to run through a brick wall. Terry is going to be one of the greatest leaders the Washington Commanders ever had.

  • Zoie Joslin

My name is Zoie Joslin and the leader I chose is Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan is the pinnacle figure for leadership in the world of sports. His career emphasizes the importance that failure has in becoming successful. He was disciplined and worked harder than anyone around him, to prove them wrong and become the greatest basketball player ever. His growth mindset prevented him from settling for anything except the best. He emphasized that success is a result of hard work, not luck or talent. With a leader like this, a team has the opportunity to reach their highest potential and make history. These characteristics can create an effective leader in any area. Micheal Jordan Video

  • Jack Goodman

    Tom Brady
My name is Jack Goodman, and the leader I chose was Tom Brady. He was a leader in every sense of the word, not only leading the Patriots to 6 Super Bowl wins but also leading his teams to seven Super Bowl wins as well. His offenses often weren't the most star-studded, so his leadership was extremely important with that. Brady was also under-recruited and drafted late into the NFL, so he had to work to earn his respect. He inspired his teammates through that, exemplifying what a leader must do.

  • Nick Rogers

My name is Nick Rogers and the leader I chose is Sir Alex Ferguson. Sir Alex was the manager for Manchester United for many years and helped change them into the club we know today. He was known for being a stern leader who looked for excellence. In this clip he is interviewing with Harvard about leadership qualities. Some of the key takeaways from this clip is how he thinks these qualities are transferable to more than just sports. He also made a key point in leaders should make recognition of players or coaches contribution. Let them know they are doing good when they are, inspire them to want recognition. Finally a point he made was to accept change, "what worked 5-6 years ago won't work forever". He did great things as manager of Manchester United and carved a standard into the world of football.
