A leader that I look up to as of recent is Dana White. Dana White is the president and founder of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). I look up to him in many ways; I admire his business mindset and how he manages the UFC and his fighters. I also really respect how he carries himself with the public, he is unapologetically himself and doesn't change for anybody, and I wish more humans would be similar to that. Lastly, I love how he treats his body and takes care of his health. Dana used to be fat and unhealthy and now he is shredded and truly dedicated to living a healthy life… As a leader I think that is a beyond perfect way to lead the people under you.

Luke Kuechly was an incredible leader by the way he vocally led his defenses and also by setting an example of how the game should be played: not only on the field, but in the film room as well. Kuechly would know what play was being run at the same time the offense got the call. He was that incredible.

Tom Brady is an athlete many people look up to including myself! Brady won 7 Super Bowls, six with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. During his interview in the posted link, he talks about telling himself (when he was 30 years old) that he wants to play until he is 45. Brady says “I only trained doing the things that work. My nutrition got better and my hydration got better.” Because of his training, Brady felt he was getting better at the age of 35 rather than his skills declining like most NFL veterans do at that age. Not only is Tom Brady the greatest quarterback to play but he is an even better person and leader off the field. Tom Brady directly works with six charities including TB12 which was founded by Brady in 2015. TB12‘s mission statement is to help athletes get the medical, nutritional, and cognitive help they need to succeed and continue succeeding.

The clip that I have chosen is this post-game speech from Tim Tebow. For some context, Tebow gave this speech just after losing the fourth game of the season to Ole Miss, and only losing by one point. After this game, Florida went on to be undefeated for the rest of the season and win the national championship. I chose this clip because I think that Tim Tebow's response to failure is a really important aspect of what makes him an effective leader. He takes full responsibility for what happened, acknowledging the mistakes they made, and even affirming that he still believes that his team was better. He apologizes to the fans and claims full responsibility for what happened. True leaders own up to their mistake and take responsibility for what happens to the team, even if it necessarily isn't just their fault. He also doesn't just let it end there. He promises that he will work harder than ever before, and promises to inspire his whole team to work harder as well. A true leader, after claiming responsibility, makes a plan and follows through on that plan. And, sure enough, Florida went undefeated the rest of the season.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RSX5KceD-g I chose the clip featuring boxer Vinny Paz because it vividly illustrates his resilience and determination, qualities that define effective leadership. Vinny Paz, also known as Vinny Pazienza, is renowned not only for his impressive boxing career but also for his remarkable comeback story. After a severe car accident that left him with a broken neck, Paz's unwavering spirit and relentless work ethic enabled him to return to the ring and achieve further success. This clip highlights his mental toughness, perseverance, and ability to inspire others by demonstrating that true leadership is about overcoming adversity and leading by example. His journey underscores the importance of grit and self-belief in achieving one's goals, even when facing seemingly insurmountable challenges. Vinny Paz's leadership is evident in his ability to motivate and uplift those around him, showing that strength and resilience can drive both personal success and influence others positively.

Live A Life Of Significance Tim Tebow is a leader that I aspire to be like. Tim Tebow played the game of football for a bigger purpose. He had meaning behind his work that was not result driven or trophy driven nor money driven. He was driven by his passion for Jesus Christ. In this video Tim Tebow talks about the significance of striving for success but still keeping an eye on…are the things you were successful in…did they matter? Tim Tebow says to live a life of significance. Live for Jesus, loving one another and caring for people. My goal is to one day be a great athlete and with that platform spread the good news to everyone! To me.. that is living a life of significance. That is why I aspire to lead one day like Tim Tebow.

  • Ben Carlson

    Pat Summit
I chose Pat Summit because I believe that she is one of the greatest coaches in her field. Pat Summit is considered one of the greatest leaders in sports because of her unique and direct approach. Summit focuses on weaknesses and losing. She thinks that if you can identify your weaknesses then you can begin to take steps to work around them. She also uses losing as leverage to grow her team and players. She says in the video that “losing gives a blueprint of what we need to do, and how to do it better.” In many ways this can be translated off the court. Sometimes when we have an unexpected situation at work, we feel like we have lost. Instead of dwelling on the mistakes made, a good leader should look for ways to improve the quality of the performance/product. Since Summit did this and other things, she was able to become one of the greatest basketball coaches of all time and set records with her teams.

  • Colin Kemper

    Inky Johnson https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVq5lc6sVVo
Inky Johnson is a former football player for the University Of Tennessee. He is someone who I look to for not just motivation but on how to be a leader. Inky has a story of hardwork and determination that unfortunately came to an end with some adversity due to an injury. His career ending injury did not stop him, and he did not let it define who he was as a man. I first saw this video in 8th grade and remembered how it made me feel determined to make the most out of any situations. I chose this video for the assignment because Inky is a someone who embodies what it means to be a leader. Possessing characteristic such as determination, setting examples, hardworking, and never quitting. He is who I want to be as a leader.

  • Markham, Samuel

    Sam Markham SPMT 489 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCb91fWGufM
Jay Wright is leader that I aspire to be like. One of my favorite things that he preaches over and over is to control what you can control. He always talks to his teams about attitude, because attitude is something that you can always control. In life some people are dealt a better hand than others, but at the end of the day it really matters how you play that hand. One thing I remember him saying that has always stuck with me was that he didn't care when he won the national championship against UNC. He was still happy and proud of his team, but Wright said that he knew he had made an impact on those kids for the rest of their lives, and he would have been proud whether or not Jenkins shot went in. It is so powerful to care more about your players than to care about all the glory that comes with winning a national championship. Now any coach could say that after winning, but with Wright it feels genuine. He has so many qualities of a great leader and is someone I try and model my own behavior after.

  • Julia Barth

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVu2nH1LglE Lindsey Horan is one of the U.S. Women's Soccer Team captains and as played for multiple clubs throughout the years. Although she has just recently come into the spotlight, I think she has and will remain to be a very effective leader. I find her motivating because she makes an effort to connect with everyone, know when and who to be bolder or more reserved with, and is reliable. I think she is an effective leader because she is willing to do what she tells others to do. There are a lot of people who do not "practice what they preach" but Lindsey Horan does and that is important in a leader because it makes them reliable. Furthermore, she is determined to do whatever it takes to get to her goal and has a lot of passion. If a leader doesn't have those characterisitcs themself, how will they lead/inspire others to have those traits or see the end goal. I chose this video chip because it actually shows the type of leader Lindsey is not through words but through her actions. The game was tied 1-1 and the Netherlands had been beating up on and trash talking the US players the entire game. Lindsey got into a little tussle with a girl on the other team, but rather than waiting to foul the Netherlands or anything else Horan made it her mission to score the tie breaking goal to shut the other team up. I watched this game on the television and could see by just the way she was carrying herself that she was going to score that goal for her team. She is caring, respectable, fierce, and stops at nothing to do what she needs, making her a very effective leader in my opinion.

  • Baylor Nelson

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZMm3MzeeEk Tim Tebow was one of the most dominant college football players in the last few decades. He was a great leader on the field, but an even better leader off the field. One of the reasons I find Tebow to be one of the best sports leaders in recent memory is because he never let his football get in the way of his faith. Tebow always put his faith ahead of his performance on the field. He used his platform in football to worship the Lord and spread the word of God. He was never afraid to speak up about what he believed in. Because of the huge platform he had in football, he had many people who looked up to him and wanted to be like him. Tebow changed the lives of many because he was not afraid to connect the world with the Lord. He paved a way for future athletes to compete while also living out the plan God has for them.

  • Kyle Hancock

Tony Dungy My name is Kyle Hancock, and I have followed Tony Dungy as a leader for a great deal of my life. Growing up, my mother was a huge Peyton Manning fan and by association, a huge fan of Tony Dungy. Dungy's Leadership style really resonates well with me because a large part of how he leads people is through faith. In the interview I have linked here, Dungy spends some time talking about how he leads a group and how many well led groups are brought together. He states that for any team to work together, they must have some common interest that drives them towards a common goal. This common interest for Dungy has very frequently been his and his players faith in God. Another aspect of Dungy's leadership style that I really appreciate, is his desire to truly help those he works with. Dungy states that being a leader is much more than being someones boss and telling them what to do. Being a leader to Dungy is about helping people be the best version of themselves that they can be. He also has a really great definition of success. That definition being making full use of the opportunities and tools you have at your disposal. Win or lose if you maximize your potential, that is success to Dungy.

  • Carter Tankersley

Tom Brady is arguably the greatest football player of all time. He won seven Super Bowls in his twenty-three season career in the NFL. I picked him because he was my role model growing up. The title of the video I picked is "DON'T QUIT." I picked this because I have always been told I can never do something, I can't accomplish my goals, I'll never be good enough, etc. If I would have listened to those people, I probably would not be at this university. Tom Brady was a perfect icon for the title of this video. In the video, he talks about how he was a backup quarterback for a freshman team that went 0-8. Brady continued to work hard. He then lost the starting job his junior year. His senior year, he earned the starting job, and he was voted the team captain by his teammates. This ties into his leadership. His strong work ethic throughout his career has the respect of many. Brady was the team captain for eighteen seasons with the New England Patriots, and then the team captain for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the three seasons he was there. In the video, Brady said he would never let his teammates down. Those are the words of a leader and someone who genuinely cares about others around him. In my opinion, Tom Brady is not only one of if the not the best football player of all time, but one of the best leaders of all time. Link to the video is down below. Tom Brady: DON'T QUIT

  • Cayetana Fernandez

    https://youtu.be/ny8HK_FmU_g?si=R9xQ8e-8pn7w6dK2
My name is Cayetana Fernandez. I have chosen this video because as a golfer Tiger Woods is someone super special for me not only because he is my favorite player but also because he is what golf means to me. Tiger has been and continues to be a world leader. Tiger Woods has broken countless records but not only for that he is one of the leaders I admire the most but for what he has done in the world of golf. Thanks to him the sport of golf has been recognized much more, since he has broken the stereotypes that everyone had. On the other hand, he is a person who has fought all his life to get what he wanted. Throughout his career he has had many ups and downs, especially in his personal life, but even so he has always been clear about what he wanted and that is what makes him such a good leader. When everyone thought he was no longer capable of winning any more tournaments in 2019 he managed to win the Augusta Masters, one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world of golf. Tiger Woods is not only a leader but the definition of hard work and perseverance. Thanks to him I have motivation every day.

  • Rebeca Rodriguez

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40at8drADwY
My name is Rebeca Rodriguez and I chose Tom Brady and one of his speeches that became the most viral speech in 2019. Tom Brady embodies the qualities that make him an effective leader both on and off the field. In this speech, Brady speaks passionately about the importance of the will to keep trying, even when faced with adversity. He emphasizes gratitude, showing appreciation for his teammates, coaches, and fans, which fosters a sense of unity and motivation among his peers. His commitment to doing things right, both in preparation and performance, sets a high standard that inspires others to follow his lead. Brady also underscores the importance of maintaining health and well-being, recognizing that physical and mental fitness are crucial to sustained success. His words reflect a balance between confidence and humility, reminding everyone that greatness comes from hard work, dedication, and respect for the game. By sharing his personal experiences and lessons, he connects with people on a human level, making his message relatable and impactful. Brady's speech resonates because it blends motivational elements with practical advice, encouraging others to strive for their best while appreciating the journey. His leadership is rooted in consistency, integrity, and a relentless pursuit of excellence, which is why he is admired not only as a player but also as a role model.

  • Juliet Soria

    https://youtu.be/6JrvGKmFeOE?si=Y7Xz53zmzhyFdEyj
My name is Juliet Soria and i have chosen Tim Tebow and his speech titled "Are you willing to embrace the grind?" Tim Tebow has been an athlete i have looked up to my whole life. I started reading his books in middle school and have been inspired by him ever since. His willingness to lead on and off the field is inspiring but most importantly i am inspired with his motivation to stay true to his morals and outwardly expresses his faith. I have chosen this clip because it starts off with a story about how there are always going to be people better than you. Sometimes this strive to want to be better can lead you into a hole if you aren't pursuing your training career correctly. In this speech Tebow continues to put on light how important it is to work hard and strive to be better. This is one of my favorite speeches because it truly shows how much Tebow cares about the people who look up to him. He will outwardly say that there are times where he falls but its how to react to those fallings. Tim Tebow is someone i choose to look up to because of his faith along with his motivation to get better.

  • Maximiliano Vega

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6cCawMndL8
Howdy my name is Maximiliano Vega and i choose Nick Saban ons of the best speeches out there. Nick Saban was a former professional and college football coach, he was the head coach of the crimson Alabama football for 17 years (2007-2024). Saban empithize how easy is to attract people in life by doing good and bad thinks, like mediocre people and high achivers, also he talks with histories of his past and some thinks that makes him be seen in the perspective of the players even being a coach so that make a great capitan/leader try to be in that shoe of other people and understand the situation and how together can work to the same goal.

  • Emma Carro

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkEOuw_BQj8
Howdy! My name is Emma Carro! The person I chose as an effective leader that motivates me is Tim Grover. Grover is known to be one of the best athletic/everyday life motivator; in my opinion. When you search his name, "performance coach to champions" pops up and that is because he has trained known athletes like Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, and Michael Jordan. The reason I look up to him so much is because my life up until last year revolved around sports, so now I am seeing things from a different perspective. He typically works with athletes but allows for his work to be more broad and applicable to those not in sports. Grover provides insights and key principles that can help anyone elevate their performance in any area of life. His book "The Relentless" shares 13 steps to become unstoppable, he uses terms every one knows along with providing tangible examples. I believe him to be an effective leader in not only sports but other areas of living, because he pushes himself endlessly to push those around him out of their comfort zone to reach their full potential. This is the type of person everyone either needs in their life or should be willing to listen to at least once in their life. I can personally say that I have read his book and it has immediately flipped my mindset. I now understand the ways I move towards achievement, who I am in pressure situations, and that negative thinking has benefits. My favorite thing he mentioned in his book was when he was talking about negative thinking and how it is OKAY. He starts off by saying how most self help books cone in on positive thinking only and how that is the only way for success, but he immediately counters that. Power of negative motivation was what he called it. For this claim he argued that fear of failure, anger about past mistakes, and the desire to prove doubters wrong can be motivators. This thinking to Grover means channeling these negative emotions into a relentless drive for success. That is one of the many reasons I find him to be an effective leader!

Howdy! My name is Brynn Wilson and I chose Coach K as my leader.
Coach Mike Krzyzewski, most famously known as Coach K, was the former head basketball coach of Duke University. Here he served as the head coach for 42 seasons. He created a legacy both on and off the court. He leads the country in wins as a head coach while instilling leadership skills into his players and coaching staff. A great leader possesses many qualities such as determination, empathy, and the ability to learn from others. In his final banquet speech, he highlights his successes and failures further showing how he is a perfect example of a humble leader. He emphasizes the value of leadership, integrity, and grit. Although he is no longer coaching, his legacy and dynasty he created will forever be remembered.

  • Jack Dostert

https://youtu.be/xw2cqR3uZ3c?si=ZSSil0kHORDpMsUG Howdy my name is Jack Dostert, and I chose Coach Mike Krzyzewski well known as Coach K as my impactful leader. Coach K was the Duke head basketball coach for 42 years, and one of the most successful basketball coaches ever. To be a coach at one program for that long it requires a special person and special leader to do so. Coach K was an ultra impactful coach on and off the court with his leadership. There are two things in particular he says in the video that I think are very important in leadership. The first is he says to achieve your goals you cannot do it alone, you have to have a team around you. This shows us that even the best leaders ever cannot do everything by themselves, everyone needs a team around them to achieve what they want to. The other thing he says that sticks out to me is learn to listen. Coach K says you won't learn with you just talking, this makes a lot of sense to be a good leader you need to learn. If you are just talking and never listening you will never learn. All in all Coach K is a great leader in the sports world and learning from him will bring success.

  • Zac Tenery

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HF4P6GBIL94 Howdy, my name is Zac Tenery and the leader I have chosen is Adrian Beltre. Beltre played Major League Baseball for 20 years being a part of 4 organizations, but truly shined as a leader during his time with the Texas Rangers. I chose this video of Beltre’s teammates talking very highly of him and the impact he had on them throughout their time together. They described him as a very serious instructor who you could always rely on with great, if not all, the knowledge that goes behind the sport of baseball on and off the field. He had a special way of getting his point across from a friend's side but at the same time, as a leader who wanted the best for his teammates. Some of the younger athletes that he led touched on how much of an impact that Beltre had on them and their careers as successful athletes. He treated these younger players as if they were his own children constantly teaching and looking out for them in their beginning years in the league. He wanted what was best for them, and that is all you can really ask from a leader. His great amount of experience truly makes him one of the wisest and most respected leaders to ever step on the field. This 4x All Star, 5x Gold Glover, and Hall of Famer was loved by everyone he has come in contact with and is a leader that we should all try to be like.

  • Tristan Jernigan

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8hVRUCizGk
Howdy, my name is Tristan Jernigan, and this is the story of Ray Lewis and why I chose this video to describe. Ray Lewis is known as one of the most feared and one of the greatest if not the greatest inside linebackers in the National Football League. Ray Lewis had a horrific childhood compared to other people in his neighborhood. His mother was suffering from abuse by different men when he was just a little boy, which caused a lot of anger in his heart because he was little, and he could not save his mother from the abuse that she was suffering. So, what he chose to do was ask his mother for a deck of cards. His mother replied and said " Junior ain't no gambling in my house ". Ray Lewis said, " but ma I don't want them from gambling, can you just please get me these deck of cards ". So eventually his mother bought the cards and there were 52 cards in the deck of cards and that's why he had that number in the NFL. This story speaks to me because some of the hardships and challenges he went through I've also went through as well and when I found this video it really motivated me to keep going and don't let anything stop you from accomplishing your goals.

  • Shemar Turner

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dm3W53YU59o&pp=ygUYZGF2aWQgZ29nZ2lucyBsZWFkZXJzaGlw
Howdy, my name is Shemar Turner, and this is a motivational speaker and ex Nave Seal David Goggins. I chose this video because it's a small example of what he is all about and why I look at his as an leader. David Goggins is known as one of the "craziest" people on earth and will do anything to succeed in anything he does no matter the situation. Before he became a Navy Seal and developed his strong mindset and unmatched determination he was a 300 pound man looking to try to better his life. One of David Goggin's most famous stories was when he completed a race with a broken foot and another story is when he ran for 100 miles non stop to just see how far he could push his body. He literally ran until he couldn't anymore and that takes determination and a lot of mental strength.

  • Kelii Horvath

Kuechly was not only an incredibly smart player, but he set the standard for the rest of his teammates as well. He did this by showing everyone how they should prepare before each game by watching film and prepping for game day, but he also picked others up when they messed up and would support his brothers on the field. Kuechly was a vocal leader, getting his defense ready and hype before each game and drive, because he knew the importance of being locked in mentally when you step between those lines. While his career was cut short due to injuries, Kuechly showed what it looked like to be a loyal, as he stayed with the Carolina Panthers for his entire playing career. Kuechly will go down as one of my favorite defensive players of all time due to his leadership qualities, his play, and the impact he had on me as i watched his career from Boston College to the NFL.

  • Kelii Horvath
  • Jason Arnold

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zyKVngLpLTI

Howdy, my name is Jason Arnold and this is former NFL quarterback by the name of Matt Ryan. I chose this video because it shows his many accolades and a glimpse into his many qualities. Matt Ryan was drafted to a very mediocre franchise of the Atlanta Falcons (I am a diehard fan so I can say) to fix the franchise. Matt Ryan not only achieved this but became the best QB in franchise history. Many QBs have also been great but his two main qualities that I admire are his determination and loyalty. Matt Ryan has won many games but he has also been a part of the worst comebacks in the NFL, such as the most famous comeback of 28-3. Whether it was his fault or not, Matt Ryan would always take responsibility and be determined to win the next game. I also admire his loyalty to the team as we have gone through a bad stretch of losses and bad coaching. Matt Ryan stuck with us in the end, until the team decided to move on from him, which was a very poor decision. Matt Ryan has also been a great person in helping younger teammates and contributing to charitable events. Matt Ryan is someone I look up too and strive to be like every day.

  • William Filler

    https://youtu.be/vMqtd6nha94?feature=shared
Howdy, my name is WIll Filler, and I chose 12 time all star and future hall of famer Chris Paul to write about. Chris Paul has gained a reputation of being a great leader ever since he debuted in the NBA, I chose this video because it is a great representation of how he truly is as a person on and off the court. On the court Chris has been known for his incredible Basketball vision, IQ, and overall complete understanding of the game and has been consistent with that his entire career. Along with that he has been a great communicator, being a point guard he is very vocal on the court but is highly vocal off the court which keeps his teammates motivated. Being able to do that creates great relationships with his squad and thats been seen everywhere hes been, in LA he led the clippers on an incredible run where he really made a name for himself and later in his career took a young struggling thunder squad to a playoff series. Chris Paul has also been known to come up with incredible moments in critical situations which is a showing of his hard work, dedication, and love for the game and it rubs off on other teammates which leads to success. And finally as I keep talking about his career longevity, he has been able to play with some of the best athletes in the world and through that he is able to mentor younger players who can have a complete opposite playing style than him and he has a great chance to showcase that this season with the Spurs. Overall, his leadership is something that should not be taken for granted both on and off the basketball court and his legacy will always be remembered with that.

  • Brittni Bussey

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TWTl3aBGzs
Howdy! My name is Brittni Bussey, and I chose to write about Taylor swift as my effective leader. Regardless of whether you are a fan of her music or not, I think there is something to be said about the ways that she has effected our society today. I believe that Taylor's boldness is one of her qualities that makes her a good leader. On several occasions, Taylor has proven that she is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in despite harsh criticism in the media. Taylor has also shown that she is incredibly resilient in the face of adversity when it comes to the media. Taylor Swift's feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian is one that is still very controversial and nearly destroyed her career. During the feud which lasted for several years, Taylor received a horrific amount of hate online which extended beyond her music into attacks on her character. I admire how Taylor was able to turn this situation into beautiful art and showcase her strength and resiliency with her very successful album Reputation, and her very successful Reputation Stadium Tour. Fast forward to today, where Taylor is now going down in the history books for her world famous Eras Tour and her raging success that, arguably, has never been achieved before by any other artist. I chose this video because it mentions how Taylor Swift has taken the NFL by storm. I think it goes to show the effects that Taylor has on culture today when the NFL continuously chooses to capitalize on her presence at their games through their marketing.

  • Parker Hanks

https://youtu.be/C-3-6gq1KM8?si=QWVfnhh8J0_rc4IO Howdy, My name is Parker Hanks and I chose my favorite coach of all time Coach K from Duke University giving what is one of my favorite speeches to his players. Coach is telling his players to imagine what all their mothers go through every day and that they have never given up on them. I think this is a really effective way of leading, especially college aged guys because it is touching on a soft part in your heart. Coach then goes on to tell the players they need to be like their mothers because they do not ever need to give up. This to me is a great way of trying to get actually results out of something cause right after touching on the soft spots with their moms, coach then challenges the player to be as tough as their mom. This is giving the players a challenge and a goal to always keep in the back of their minds.

Howdy, My name is Jennifer Pina and I chose to write about about Steve Harvey as my motivational leader. I chose this clip because I feel like it goes hand in hand with what we have been learning in class recently, on what a good leader is and what a leader is. I enjoy this clip because it shows different aspects of what a leader is in Steve Harveys eyes. As he states in his video, there are two different people that are born, people who find jobs and people who give jobs to those looking for jobs. I find his way of speaking to others and motiving them to be very powerful. Steve Harvey is a great example of a leader because the passion he has when delivering his messages is the same passion he uses to better himself and the people around him everyday. He expresses the importance of not just sitting and waiting for things to happen, but to go out and reach for the stars. One of the most motivational things that has stuck with me from this video is the description of the dash between our birth day and our death date. I encourage everyone to watch this video and see the passion Steve Harvey has when talking about being a leader and the stepping stones that come with it.

  • Knudson, Hunter

    https://www.nfl.com/videos/joe-thomas-full-hall-of-fame-speech
Howdy, my name is Hunter Knudson, and I decided to choose one of my favorite offensive linemen of all time. Joe Thomas was an easy pick for me because Joe Thomas is everything that you would want a leader to be. First off, he was loyal to the Cleveland Browns organization. In an era of sports where players demand certain things, it was always refreshing to know that, no matter what, Joe Thomas would be suiting up and playing football every Sunday. At the two-minute mark in his HOF speech, he talks about the consecutive snaps he completed. 10,363 is the number of consecutive snaps that he played for the Browns. This is just an incredible stat that shows not only his leadership but his commitment to the team. At the two minute and thirty-second point he describes why that number was so important to him. It was an NFL record, but more importantly, he states that he was there for his brothers 10,363 times. He was there every time they needed him. It was never in doubt that Joe Thomas would be there.

  • Lexi Rodriguez

Howdy, my name is Lexi Rodriguez and I chose Sadie Robertson as my leader. She is a very prominent leader in the Christian faith. From being on the show Duck Dynasty, to then being on Dancing With The Stars at the age of 17 she was put into the public eye very quickly. She struggled to find her identity and true calling until she took a leap of faith and started using her platform to spread the gospel. Through this God continued to open doors for her and now she speaks at conferences all around the world, has her own podcast, and app. She is truly someone I look up to and is symbol of what it looks like to live out your faith and fully trust in Jesus. The clip I included was a sermon that she preached at Christ Church. What stands out to me is when she is talking about why we settle for empty promises. This part of the sermon is at 18:58 time mark. She has a way of speaking that makes it very easy to relate as a girl, christian, and a young person pursuing their faith. She has millions of people that look up to her from all ages and I have no doubt she will continue to lead this generation with grace, humility, and confidence. Promise to the End

  • Jace

Howdy, my name is Jace McCurry, and the leader I chose for this assignment is Dirk Nowitzki. Dirk is a great example of a unique leader who leads by example and humility. Many people think leaders need to be loud and vocal, but Dirk leads by his example. He lead by working hard and showing his teammates what it took to be great. Dirk also showed leadership by his loyalty. He spent 21 seasons with the Dallas Mavericks and is the longest tenured player with one team. He no doubt had many opportunities to leave to a different team in a better position to win a championship, but he also chose to stay with the Mavericks and often for much less money so they team could pay other people. He kept his head down, kept working, was always humble and took the blame for losses, and eventually was able to reach his goal of winning the championship in 2011. Dirk is a great example of a leader because he never pointed fingers. He made mistakes throughout his career but he always took responsibility, kept working, and that helped him reach his goal. The video I attached is a video of some of his teammates talking about him and it shows that he built a good relationship with them and pushed them to be better. One of them mentions how well he performed under pressure, and I think that is another attribute of his leadership, he was never afraid to step up in the big moments for his team. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lxeWTE_JKU

  • Gracie Dolan

Howdy! My name is Gracie Dolan and I chose to cover America Ferreras TED talk on authenticity. I think in our time, it is relatively easy for people to find leadership in many different places. This could be good and bad, obviously not everyone should be looked to for leadership; however, with the advancement of media, many worthy people have been given a platform to lead. The actress America Ferrera is a person I think has rightfully earned the right to lead in the media, especially young women. In the heat of press for the release of the Barbie movie, she gave a TED talk that has gained over 4 million views for her points about personal identity. I personally find this motivating as a woman who has been told most of her life that she is ‘too much.’ Although Mrs. Ferrera hits hard on how her culture has affected her life in this speech, most women can relate to the idea of having to focus on not being ‘too’ anything. I think that Mrs. Ferrera is a wonderful leader for all, but especially young women. By setting a new standard for personal authenticity, I think she is opening the doors for generations to come to live as they are and to not dim their own light to make others comfortable.

  • Bradley

Howdy. My name is Bradley Hancock and I chose Patrick Beverly's talk on how he is a dawg, and what his career has looked like. While many people look down on Pat, his career holds testimony to how hard working he truly is. Pat has never had it easy. People constantly talk bad about his mentality, or that he is a dirty player. However, I believe it is more of him being hardworking and motivated. Something that every leader should hold strong to. While many people would be too embarrassed to leave the NBA to head over to Israel to play, it was entirely different for Pat. He holds himself to a standard that doesn't falter to pressure. That is why I believe he is a leader, even if others do not agree.

  • Parker Tepera

Howdy, I am Parker Tepera and when people hear the name Terrell Owens, many think of the loud, showboating, talking a lot guy with no rings. However, many are not aware of the leader Owens is. A guy whose teammates say they always worked the hardest because if you are going to have the loudest mouth, you have to be able to lead by example as well, and this is what Owens was able to do. I chose the "That's my Quarterback" clip because I think I represent a key quality of being a leader, and that is taking responsibility. Tony Romo, the Cowboys QB, had essentially lost the game for the team. As a young QB, TO was able to recognize and act when his team needed someone to do so—instead of letting the heat fall onto Romo, Owens owned the situation, turning the spotlight and bad press onto himself. While Owens may not be your stereotypical leader, he is still very much effective in practice. Owens is able to get his team going by showing his emotion and sticking up for his team. Leadership comes in many forms, and TO is a leader.

  • Tristan Lessard

For this discussion, I chose Drew Brees, former star quarterback for the New Orleans Saints. Drew Brees is a well known leader in the football world, leading passionate pregame huddles and being pretty well respected by all of his former teammates and peers. Drew Brees is one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game, and I feel a large part of that has to do with his leadership skills and how he cultivated relationships with his teammates. A quarterback is nothing without his teammates rallying around the leadership of him, and Brees understood that. In this video, he goes back to his alma mater of Purdue, and he gives a rousing pregame speech to the student athletes in the locker room. He wanted to inspire them to play hard for not only their team and coaches but the community that supports them as well. There are so many videos of Brees hyping up his team in a pregame huddle, but this one stood out to me as he wanted to stress the importance of humility and being humble to those young collegiate athletes.

  • Graysen Lewis

    https://youtu.be/cD71Hlg4WSY?si=qxJldYGUSX7sK4p1
Howdy. My name is Graysen Lewis and I chose a clip from Kobe Bryant. In this clip he emphasizes the importance of holding people accountable and the difficulty of leadership. Infact, Kobe goes as far to say that leadership is lonely. In his view of leadership you have to accept that you cannot please everybody, eventually someone will be upset. When this happens the leader must keep strong and maintain course for the rest of the group. For Kobe, this meant holding himself to and others around him to an extremely high standard. This often meant making unpopular decisions, confronting teammates, and having uncomfortable conversations. The key to being a leader with this style is becoming comfortable in these situations. Leaders like Kobe Bryant have to stay disciplined to ensure they maintain the drive to achieve success, which can create a sense of loneliness.

  • Calvin Williams

    Video … https://youtu.be/Ob7aNSFB2BE?si=sG_t9xpeStfcj4TU

  • Blake Bost

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E0jEXV5XU4&pp=ygUXdG9tIGJyYWR5IG9uIGxlYWRlcnNoaXA%3D A leader that I look up to is Tom Brady. He is considered the greatest quarterbacks of all time. He has never been the most talented player on the field but their is a reason he has been so successful. He has a drive and determination to be the most prepared and to get the most out of his teammates. I chose this clip because he talks about how in a team their are different ways to be an effective leader. He says that accountability is the most crucial part, being able to hold people accountable while being able to be held accountable yourself. As a quarterback myself it is great to hear all of the things that he did to be an effective leader. He cares for the people around him while also being tough on them to get the most out of them, which I believe is a extremely important quality.

  • Martrell Harris Jr.

MJ I feel like Michael Jordan is an effective leader because he doesn't just lead people around them he preaches what he teach which rubs off on him. Also another reason is he is praised from his hard work and dedication. Also is popular from high school story to him getting cut off basketball team. Michael jordan went back to work and became one of the greatest to do it. Another reason he is one of my favor leaders because the knowledge he gives out is unpriceable. Whenever he's motivating he never talks about him being the leader telling people what to do like most leaders he creates more leaders instead. Another thing I liked what Michael Jordan said in the video saying he put the same dedication and work in to his Jordan Brand. He also stated about learning from the mistakes which is something that is important in this world. Making the same mistakes makes you go backwards. https://media1.giphy.com/media/5wWf7GR2nhgamhRnEuA/giphy-downsized-small.mp4

https://youtu.be/eyKNsoEEpI0?si=J0I5wYtpepG4GBzy I chose this as my leadership video because obviously I play sports and sports means a lot. I liked this video because this is motivation to never hear the haters. Also he talks about how people can have their opinions about you and you can prove that wrong. That motivated me because playing sports you will always have people in your ear saying different things about you. But I somehow always prove people wrong so I can relate to what he said. He also says “Effort” and effort is something you need to be the best person you can be I believe and not just in sports as a person. He also said he never had let anybody beat him in practice because his effort made him have an ego to say he will never let anyone beat him.
